Hello Urteil, I'm interested in your PvP challenge and I'm considering making the move to Phoenix but I've never done a manual server migration before (only the forced Ramuh -> Baha) and I'm just wondering how easy it is to migrate back after the fight (I have friends I regularly play with on baha). Thanks!

There's a 3 month waiting period to transfer back and another $25 also

The 3 month period is what discourages most contenders, if it wasn't for the 3 month wait period I'm confident Urteil would have been beaten already by at least one person.

You have no idea. There are a few strats I have thought of, but it would take me prolly months and practice just to beat him even 2x

Already offering 50,000,000g and 25$ for a transfer upon defeat is more than reasonable.

Everyone crying about it not being "worth" it, it is just a bunch of *** babies at this point.

Or a bunch of shoulda, coulda, wouldas.

It's a valid point, as your own desire to remain with your shell demonstrates. Once somebody wins or loses, what does Phoenix have to offer them? Is it worth uprooting oneself for three months, if not completely displacing oneself from one's current situation? Friends vs gil and maybe bragging rights if you're into that sort of thing... eh.

I'm sure Urteil wouldn't mind them joining his shell.

Not always a viable option, as he's surely found. Nor does it really solve the uprooting issue unless 1) you have no attachments to your current server or 2) any friends are also willing to transfer and accepted into said shell.

It doesn't upset me that people don't want to transfer.

Its the unwillingness to transfer while simultaneously trying to brag.

I MEAN, I'M NOT GONNA GO BUT, I'M SURE LIKE, IF I DID.

THAT. STUFF.

WOULD GO DOWN CAUSE.

YOU KNOW.

BUT YEA. CAN'T DO IT MAN.

I'M ALSO LIKE, THE BEST DD, EVER. YOU KNOW. *** SHATTERSOULS N'***.

Anyone who transfers can attempt to join my shell, I'd give them a solid chance to perform and earn a place.

For the grand prize no.

But there's always the opportunity to beat me and I wouldn't mind fighting for smaller wagers.

I'm not sure why I'm expected to do ALL of the below:

A) Pay an exuberant prize.
B) Divulge my own strategies to give everyone an edge.
C) Upon my defeat, actually pay the prize.
D) Provide a warm happy home for everyone interested in the prize. LS included and ensure their three month stay is great like some kind of indentured tour guide.

If somebody else offered a challenge and I wasn't willing to transfer I'd to the decent thing, wish them the best, and close my mouth.

I feel like there are a few ways to beat you, but would require like a full year to gear and do it.

also cant the same be said about rng though who TPs in sleeps or what have you?

sorry i like to theory craft

edit: way i see it, rng has sleep, para, mute, attack down, raw attack. or sleep, def down, drain, blind with great speed and medium power. So it's hard for me to accept that rng would pose little to no threat. :x

It's really a shame that we don't have some sort of temporary pass system. A classmate was telling me about WoW offering some kind of system where you can cross servers on a temporary basis to attend specific raids, challenge other players, or even just exp with a friend. Access to certain things like the AH, timed NMs, blah blah blah could be restricted while under a "visitant" status.

Having recently transferred servers and needing a GM to help me with it I can say they definitely have the ability to move people around servers when they want to. There is really no technology-based reason why they couldn't make this available outside the test-server.

Maybe this:
You run in with sleep bolts at a shooting distance. Then
a.) He stuns you, or
b.) The bolt is shot but is absorbed by a Blink shadow, and then he sleeps you.

Not entirely sure about range of ranged attacks vs. magic, but maybe you could win with a low delay weapon by straddling the distance so he couldn't actually cast magic on you but you could still attack.

Though aren't the farthest distances similar?

if i remember correctly ranged is 24.9 and magic is 19.9

theoretically if it fails you could attempt shadowbind if he gets too close, sure he could sleep you but he wont be able to do much during the duration while being held at a distance. Also there is double shot and if the first hit of the attack sleeps him and the 2nd doesnt, it wont wake him up as the both hit at the same time.

Except Shadowbind is once every 5 minutes :(

I think another problem is that even if you do land a sleep, the only damaging action you can perform is a weaponskill or a regular attack or a barrage, which then wakes him. Maybe on SAM you can get TP fast enough with meditate, but in order to win you would need to reliably land those sleep shots on him before he can touch you, and then whiddle him down.

Since it's a chasing game, too, he's not going to let you damage him enough. He just has to cure himself and then chase you again.

i.e. He'll run the other direction.

thing about rng vs drk is rng would have greater running speed so all you'd have to worry about is staying away from him until you have enough tp to double jishnu darkness which im pretty positive would kill anyone outside of a blocking pld. the sleep would only serve the purpose of draining stoneskin and getting into true-shot range
