Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead are two misunderstood books. These books are not saying to stomp on those in need but conversely, not to handcuff people that are at the top of their industries (IE: surgeons, inventors, business leaders, etc.) because these people are essentially bettering life for everyone. Ben Franklen "When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." William Boetker "You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." Let's see what Bill Boetker thinks: In one column there are the small, weak, wage-earner, poor, troubled, cowardly, ignoble, hapless men. In the other column there are the big, strong, wage-payer, rich, stable, brave, noble, independent men. What sort of drivel is this? |
