Furthermore, those potatoes aren't wrapped well enough. Your porch needs to be re-lacquered, and it wouldn't hurt to weed your grass.
If you're going to BBQ corn, should leave it in it's leaves, and wrap it in tinfoil, with an ounce of water to steam the ***.
remember, I come from a culinary back ground, sanitation is everything.
eh, if the corn was purchased like that...
I can still blame whoever bought it, and more importantly, whoever sold it. Since I grew up in a rural city, the color of the corn is at least pleasing to my eyes. Looks awesome, Josi-posey. I'm jelly of you.
On topic, I decided to make sushi for lunch using smoked salmon. Not bad, but it could have been better; too salty. Bismarck.Magnuss said: » Looks awesome, Josi-posey. I'm jelly of you. On topic, I decided to make sushi for lunch using smoked salmon. Not bad, but it could have been better; too salty. The places around here use sweet sticky rice for sushi rolls, to offset the salt, and the rice vinegar hand wash (to keep the rice from sticking to your fingers when you make it) The bag is labeled "sushi rice" and I used rice vinegar as both the binding agent and the hand wash (as a solution with water, by the way). The roll was smoked salmon, japanese mayo, cream cheese and spinach, and I had some extra rice left over, so I made nigiri sushi with more salmon.
I'd be pretty wary of anything called "sushi rice", since it's usually a ploy to sell of regular white rice as sticky rice. But it sounds like it turned out pretty good, and you know the right way to make it.
I have a hardcover book with like 108 difference sushi recipes (might actually be 63 recipes, i'll have to relocate the book) Well, the actual rice is short grain white, and it was imported from Japan, but it's used primarily for sushi. As for recipes, originally I went with them, but after a while I realized that sushi is pretty versatile. You just have to know what works with what and not be afraid to experiment a little.

It's a science and an art. You can be as creative as you want with it. This is especially true of sushi and sashimi. Now, make a bento box of goodies! The Cooking Gods have demanded it! Bismarck.Bloodrose said: » And learn to cook a steak on the grill. Only issue I see is it looks like his grill isn't a particularly good/hot one so he probably didn't/can't get a good sear. That's a mechanical issue, not a skill issue. A few weeks ago, Chu posted a picture of a sushi burrito. Well, I decided to attempt that tonight, only I didn't have access to raw fish or imitation crab. So instead I decided to be totally ghetto and used tuna salad instead. It came out like this:
![]() ![]() Sooooo good. Because I'm a teacher and haven't got a stupid paycheck yet and I'm broke as ***. Basically, this was just a last minute idea that I whipped up with whatever was lying around in the house.
Not anymore. That's like 3 million American, nowadays. The thought's nice, but I only need to hold out for another two months, then I'll be... marginally paid.
Stupid America treating their teachers like ***... /grumble Totally off topic, I know. Anyway, tuna melt sushi burrito was a success! |
