Game Dc's Me On Desktop But Not Laptop

been having some issues for like a day or so now, just moved in to a new place and my laptop gets on the game no issues etc... but i just set my desktop up and got on it, log into FF and withing like 6 minutes it hits me with the red dc icon, but my send and recieve are still going... but my send on my desktop sits at like 50/60 and only goes into the 200's for a lil bit when i first log in after a few moments it drops to 50/60 and then it boots me off... it dosent do this on my laptop at all but my desktip it does... i put the guildwork.dll on my computer and used it for the first time the other night, and now it wont work on my desktop im wondering if that guildwork.dll program for my windower might of messed it up... but when i tried to do it through normal non windower means it still booted me off.... has anyone ever had this issue? im using a wireless adaptor on the desktop now and seeing if it was just a direct connection issue, but its still doing it... so its odd that my laptop dose not have these issues but the desktop does? maybe i need to install the routers install disk on my desktop? but my laptop didnt need em... need some major help here its annoying

1. Have you tried hooking up your desktop directly to your modem to see if it works.

2. Do you have ports forwarded for FFXI?

idk if the ports are forwarded.... and yes when i did hook it up directly it d/ced i turned on check connection on pol and its working but... idk if thats truly a fix...maybe i need to run the program for the d-link modem for my desktop to allow it to use those ports maybe?
