Pretty sure since mid-2010 or so the terms "patch" and "VU" became synonymous for FFXI, to disguise the fact that we're getting fewer major content updates per year than we used to.
I really don't know who they think they're fooling besides themselves.
Im sure there are several hundred thousand.subscriptions that are being fooled all the time, thats why they are still playing :D

I wonder how many active subs, also known as suckers, there actually are now.

This is the FFXI section, not FFXIV. The paying alpha testers (suckers) are that way.

Pretty sure active subs total less than 200k. FFXIAH reports 257,710 active characters but there is bound to be a healthy margin of mules in there.

Mules, duplicate accounts... pretty much everyone has at least one of either, some (many) have multiple.

Going up in Nyzul isle floors not being clumped together is a nice improvement.. but the biggest complaint is still un-addressed. SE really needs too remove the 5~10 second delay after completing order lamps.

lol no, they need to remove order lamps altogether. If they seriously change the order to server-side then they will have essentially screwed everyone out of gear that hasn't yet done nyzul. God this event has got to be one of the worst implemented things in the history of FFXI. I can forgive them for salvage because it was a weird glitch that nobody would have noticed, but nyzul was screwed from the start.
I'll recant everything I just said if they actually remove order lamps; otherwise I'm glad I got all the crap I wanted by now.

They are not going to remove order lamps no matter how many people complain about it. I agree with you though.

Good luck with that post update bud. This fix is only a minor inconvenience to players that wish to cheat the game. If they are only preventing players from changing NPC names for lamps then it won't stop anything. Players will still be able to access the NPC ID numbers for the lamps determining the order just the same. The true solution would have to be server side where the solution would be completely hidden from players.
I feel that they are too lazy to create a system just for lamps, so they are most likely adding a quick line of code to make sure the names of the lamps match the original. This won't stop anyone.

After doing this fun event so many times I have conjured up a few ideas. For instance "Set Preferences" Should have an additional "On" switch that makes items that have been pre-set automatically acquired upon entering Nyzul Isle.
Also, They should add a function that will automatically take you up "???" floors upon completing an objective.
They should have an exit zone like Legion has so you don't lose Alex purses / gear from the floor 100 boss because you won just in the knick of time.

It's possible, I just have doubts that they would care that much to go that far.

Of course, randomizing the order that is used each time regardless of order in the .DAT file fixes it also.

Who the hell is against this collision thing? I'd like to go to their house and dump 14 babies at the foot of their driveway when they're late for work and see how they feel about collision then.

"Insert pathetic whining about lack of "content" for posted version update"
And to those who would participate in such acts... *** YOU! It's called version update because the "version" of the game that we play is being updated.. enhanced... tweaked..... manipulated to change the overall game experience. I don't care if it's one job ability timer adjustment change, or access to a new branch of story quests with new gameplay elements added. ITS STILL AN UPDATE!!
The fact that this game exists still is credit enough to SE that they do believe it in and want players to enjoy it. I am sure they are all sorry they aren't able to dole out more man hours putting together some delicious morsel of virtual game world for you to experience.
I love FFXI, always have always will. I love that it has changed. I loved that it will keep changing until one day its no longer supported on SE servers. That being said, if you don't like the game you pay to play STFU, cancel your account and play another game. Suicide also works if you have no other options.
Or you could send kind suggestions to the dev team on things you would like to see changed.

It doesn't affect NPCs in any way sadly, just PCs that are stood still for 10 seconds+.
