Basically, I'm leaving where I'm at soon and my download is only about 40% done (not a torrent) and I was wondering if there was a way to pause it or save what I have and pick up there when I get to my next destination rather than starting the whole thing over again

Download of what? XI update? Also, unless you're using a download manager, it's not usually possible.

I use Download Accelerator Plus.

Gotta deal with some ads and make sure you read everything you click the box for. <_< But it works, can pause downloads and resume them later.

You can use Opera Web Browser. It has a download manager built right into it. You can also go into settings and change it to support a maximum of 128 connections, which boosts download speed tremendously if supported by the server you're downloading from.

Sometimes, a server will cap download speed at 70-100kb/s but only per connection, as most browsers don't support that many multiple connections out of the box.

I've downloaded Linux ISOs in under 20 seconds with Opera browser, for instance.

Firefox has add-ons as well. Never used them, but here's one I quickly Googled- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/
