Nvm, summoned help for it which I didn't want to do, but oh well. Along the way there, a red phantom npc invaded and I got one of its drops, Leydia Black Hood, but doesn't seem to be anything special.

I have not put much time in game yet. Just playing with mechanics. I keep choosing the deprived character and find myself leveling same stuff as the swordsman... Thinking of starting get over as a swordsman since I am not that far into game.

is there a better/easier starting class .

Barbarian, knight, and swordsman are generally the easier starting classes. Deprived is more for advanced play because you have absolute control over all of your level's stat allocation. Mages are kind of an in-between.

They're much more challenging if you can't kill them in 1-2 hits, which then you become very overwhelmed by their aggressiveness and you yourself have to become very evasive to avoid their damage. If they clip you it could be game over very quickly due to their constant damage running into you instead of just 1 simple hit.

So generally the best way to deal with them is to make sure you can kill them quickly, but that could be said about everything.

Yep this^ getting randomly clipped trying to run and they stun lock you with their rolling until you die. If you get hit by multiple it was like insta death. I would try to run to pinwheel early on to get the Estus + and would always have trouble running from those. Same thing in the underground area of the Painted World. I would run for the switch to up the patch to the boss and there is like 6 of them all rolling at you at once.

*mini news*

Titanfall triumphs over Dark Souls II in sales (NOWAY), but DS2 holds the number 2 slot for most sales this week. Also, Titanfall gave a boost to sales for the Xbox One, 96%. 96% of what I don't know, overall? NA? Month? Week? who knows, they just like to point out the % and no specifics.

A very respectable spot to be in being the niche game that Dark Souls II is, and not some generic shooter that happens to have robots as well.

I ended up being able to sit behind my shield letting all of them constantly run into me and not even running out of stamina. Such high poise, stamina, and stability and all. Though that was at really high levels. At lower levels I just got accustomed to dodging them since they generally rolled straight at you and didn't change course.

In the area below Painted World though, sometimes they would manage to sneak up behind me (damn those tunnels and all the passages) and they would get a decent roll in on me, constantly doing the "mini-stun" on me, though at the times that happened I was already such a high level it would usually only take me to around 3/4-7/8th of my health.

Being level 600+ was so amusing.

I do remember the first time I found them though. I was busy with the black knight just before the area with them and ended up fighting him out in the more open area...next thing I know I'm being pummeled from behind by two of them. Scared the ***out of me. (My camera was turned to where I didn't even see them coming till they were already on me.)

FYI, anyone using the official guide and wondering if the lore section is "legit"

Marcus Sanders (EpicNameBro) and A German Spy worked on the lore section together, with FromSoft signing off on all of their work to confirm it as fact. So you'll be glad to know that you can read it all knowing that ENB wrote it for you, and that he got to play the full game months before all of us :)

You can confirm ENB as an author on the very last page under "Authors", he also wrote the entire first chapter "Game Systems", and wrote most if not all the battle strategies for all bosses and enemies in the game.

Yes this area is probably the worst in the game and by now I'm sure you know why. It's not bad at all if you have a decent bow. I didn't have a decent bow...

Also regarding the last boss in the
