Iraq had WMD that was the reason we attacked them. But in reality they didnt and the people that was sent to find it never did and we still went ahead and attacked a sovereign nation thats only crime against us was a threat to only except euros for oil instead of dollars.

Why not instead of having a caveman mentality to the 911 situation and bombing the innocent bring the guilty to trial and be civilized about and take the higher road? Why not do the right thing? If you bothered to read this thread you'd see that I've been critical of the government action in Iraq and have drawn my own conclusions regarding the validity of the war in Afghanistan versus the quagmire that was Iraq.

To summarize: Iraq was a bad idea perpetuated by war hawks who wanted to kick *** in a country that wasn't linked to terrorism. Saddam Hussain was a brutal dictator but he had nothing to do with 9/11 and as a country we got duped by shooped PowerPoint slides and the impending doom mentality.

The key point here is Iraq and Afghanistan aren't the same place. One had no clear reason to be invaded and the other had some valid reasons. Keyword "had" as the mission is complete as far as I'm concerned and this nation building adventure is an exercise in futility.



What part of "we were attacked on our home soil" isn't connecting? Are you forgetting about the 9/11 attacks or was that done by the Bush administration? Al Qaeda is a threat to the US, Bin Laden was suspected of being in the Afghan/Pakistan region along with other senior leaders and regardless of what happened in the past you can't simply shrug your shoulders and claim "well, we deserved it" because with that logic we deserved the Pearl Harbor attacks.

How exactly do you propose bringing the guilty to trial without... going after them? Do you think the guilty are so stupid to not hide among the innocent? How do you distinguish a terrorist from an innocent civilian? Can we just ask the terrorists to stand up and put shackles on 'em?

This ***isn't easy. There are no distinct borders. I could criticize the government all day but the idea that America is the cause of all wrong in the ME is completely wrong in addition to the idea floated that we're the ones creating all the terrorists. With or without US hands in the region or even our intimate relationship with Israel we'd always be the target of terrorists bred in that region.
