Hello - I'm trying to build a maximum Embrava set for SCH - do you think it is possible to get 500 enhancing skill?

Current set:


With Enhancing Magic capped at 404 on SCH with light arts @lvl 99 + 16 enhancing merits + 71 from equip I get 491...ughhh....

When do you get 6tp/tic? (BG says 500: http://wiki.bluegartr.com/bg/Embrava)

EDITED:
+ added Kirin's Pole (augment +12)
+ added Rubeus Boots
* fixed Enhancing Torque (had 2x neck in set)
* changed Augur (+5 enh) to Savant+2 for additional +2.5m on Embrava with Perpetuance (12.5mins instead of 10 mins).

this sums up to 404+16+84 = 504 enhancing.

enhancing torque/collossus torque (+7)
Kirin's pole augmented (Maxed +12) solves your problems lol

also feet could be rubeous which are +10 enhancing

Haven't touched my SCH since 75 cap some pieces I can see to improve

Neck - Enhancing or colo torque(+10 on lightsday iirc)
Weapon - Fay Staff can get up to +8~ I've also see kirins pole with +10 I've heard it can get up to +12

am I missing something but don't AF Pants give +15 enhancing skill? (while light arts up, which is a given if you doing embrava)

yeah - they do, but give 15 MP less- easier to get though

Portent pants are pretty easy to get, plus they're still nice for Stoneskin/etc. whenever you're under dark arts and they effect more than just light based magics.

yes merits. Also, you get +10 skill is enlightenment is used for embrava w/ af2+2a body is +19 skill total. actually enables a 500+ skill set w/o VW drops.

I guess it's worth noting that to get +19 skill with argute gown +2a is that you'd need 5/5 enlightenment: +9 from body, +10 from having 5 merits in enlightenment (+2/ea)

I don't know what is worth meriting in SCH group2 so not sure if it's good/bad!

Has anybody tested whether 500 skill is the cap for Embrava or if going over gives an increase in regen and haste. I know that 500 is the cap for the regain but according to the ffxi wiki formulas:

Regen potency = Enhancing Magic ÷ 7 + 1 HP/tick (72/tick at 497 or greater enhancing skill)
Regain potency = Enhancing Magic ÷ 100 + 1 TP/tick (6/tick at 500 or greater enhancing skill)
Haste potency = Enhancing Magic ÷ 15 + 1% Haste (presumed cap at 500 skill)

... you should be able to get more haste and regen, that is if there is no cap.

I did notice however, on my whm, that 510 enhancing does not give 26 to boost spells. So 500 being a cap for boost spells.

That's A-OK in stuff like Nyzul.

And I believe that you only need the body for the JA activation, you don't need to cast in it. Ideally you'd want both for a 22 skill boost in Anhur Robe.

Given any Embrava Zerg the 1 tick of regain isn't all that much anyways. While 1 tick of regain is nice for the downtime in between mobs, you're getting much more benefit from the haste (over 28.33%) and the Regen (60+/tick) which are already sufficiently potent enough to cap haste (when stacked with the haste spell), and keep you pretty consistently in the top third of your health.

The bottom line is using the augmented relic +2 body enables one to reach the 500 cap without the use of merits (pretty worth it).

You can't though, you only get a single cast. This may not bother you, but for people who want to play at max potential, they're going to want enhancing magic merits so they can achieve 500 without enlightenment.

That's true, you do only get 1 cast of it, but you're not really playing SCH at its max potential if you're only using it for Embrava.

Which is exactly why you want to hit 500 without Enlightenment. Embrava isn't the only enhancing magic spell you can cast!

The 16 points between 486 and 500 net you the following:

2 points of dmg more to phalanx (46-48).
14 pts of dmg to stoneskin (but its already capped anyways).
2 stat points on a gain or boost spell (not even applicable for sch).
4 additional resists for any Bar spell.

1 extra point of regain on your embrava.
.9333% haste on embrava.
2 more hp for every tick of embrava.

If you don't have another job that utilizes an additional magic skill like DRK (dark magic) or BLU (blue magic) then you're probably not missing much putting 8/8 in enf/ele/enh. Otherwise there are better places for your merits. You'll make much more of a difference as a SCH if those 8 merits are put into elemental/enfeebling magic and they stop the resists of nukes or enfeebles that you're casting on the enemy. Especially when you can get that extra boost to 500 on occasion with the relic +2 body.

We'll probably have to agree to disagree, but I view Enfeebling/Elemental merits to be completely worthless. The only magic skills I see as particularly worth meriting are Summoning, Enhancing, Blue Magic, and Dark Magic. I hear Ninjutsu gets a damage boost, but lol.

Agree to disagree it is then, but I will also add that if you are playing SCH for JUST the use of Embrava and you absolutely NEED 500 skill all the time, then you can use Ayao's Gages for the cast, lock your timer and just recast again at the end of the 10 minutes, instead of the 12:30. You can easily get 9 or more casts during your 2-hr, more if you augment the pants as well.

I would like to point out though that SCH has gotten a lot of MACC and Enfeebling magic gear lately, so I guess depending on what you're fighting, merits may be less "potent."

I only use sch for nyzul and need the 1 enlightenment a minute. If i had anhur that would be one thing but right now I just do enlightenment for the second cast


If you can get 500 without olymp, I recommend Siegel sash. The dd's are already antsy in the pantsy to start clearing the floor before you finish strategems
