Random Question thread (FFXI related)
Nobody bothers with it because its not 100%, its the same ***drop rate as the other slots.
Has anybody done testing on the easiest way to achieve capped Imperial Standing Accolades during Besieged? The most recent update gave us the following:
"The system that was applied to certain monsters has been revised, with players now earning a contribution level based on their actions rather than a set amount, and experience points will be awarded according to their performance." I have since done 3 Besieged. The first one I killed two mobs, then spent the rest of the time curing and hasting NPCs/Generals/Random players. Capped at 400. Second Besieged, I fought no monsters and only buffed/hasted NPCs/Generals (Prot 3/Shell 3/Haste). Less than 200 Third I did the same only buffing NPC/Generals, this time adding cures, less than 200 again. I still don't see the infatuation with terrible drop rates to begin with, and then measures to improve the drop rate later. And they still haven't learned their lesson with Limbus matter, which is another problem. Idk, just stop making fights with ridiculously bad drop rates and make them reasonable (not guaranteed, but not excessively long either). Seems like more work fixing these fights multiple times instead of just getting it right the first time (CoD) Considering their previous htbs CoD feels like a fluke or an apology. And noone does lilith the proper way because itd take more than 2-3 people and those farming lilith are likely low level geared, and would rather burn out beating their head against ve/e rates then attempt N× with some others. The difficulty/reward benefit is not there that's why. I did do the wardens stuff for a while. I saw one double drop in maybe a dozen runs like that. Mostly FA as usual. Meanwhile kill times were 4-5 times longer than just a straight zerg and much higher risk of wipe. Since it does not guarantee a drop, why bother with it. Quote: Please forgive me Master Dodiiiiiik Don't mess with my monsters. I do not f around with rearing. ![]() ![]() Lol it's all good. Getting there, slowly.
Those mandies took the longest. One of my goals is to get all the mementos. For profit, obviously. The drop rate for soloing/party killing Lilith N~VD without Spitewarden kills is significantly lower than doing the Spitewarden kills with a party on the difficulty level that you're comfortable with. It's honestly not even close. If you didn't see noticeably higher drops doing spitewarden strat (with THF), then I have to assume either someone in the group had the item that was supposed to drop (Sword, staff, daybreak etc), or it just didn't load. The Spitewarden method is supposed to be harder, if it actually rewards players the way they designed it to. Then again, they said they "increased shinryu drop rates and bumped merits up to 30", and they are still ***drop rates, so we can't really take their word for it. In any case, if what you experienced is true in that the spitewarden method for enhancing drops doesn't actually benefit anybody in a meaningful way, then why the hell does it exist? And if it's not working as it should, wouldn't the simplest way to update the fight (that already has an existing mechanism for improving drops) just be to improve the mechanism it currently has for improving drops? Like, why doesn't killing spitewardens just guarantee a damn drop? This seems like a ton of rework for a fight, which is pretty much an "our bad, here's free ***" (aka Aman Trove w/ Ou/Omen bodies/Shinryu drops). I've just always hated the way SE shoots players in the knee caps, then go get them a bandaid, a paper napkin, and some dirty water and say "we fixed it". The last fix to Sinister Reign solo path was a perfect example of a ***system that remained ***. It's just annoying. Lakshmi.Buukki said: » The drop rate for soloing/party killing Lilith N~VD without Spitewarden kills is significantly lower than doing the Spitewarden kills with a party on the difficulty level that you're comfortable with. My understanding, and someone correct me if this is inaccurate, is that killing a fetter opens up another drop slot but does not guarantee a drop. Meaning there is a higher chance for two or more depending on fetters killed items to drop, but neither drop is guaranteed. Sure, if you also have a thief, you significantly increase the chance of those drop slots actually having an item in them. Which is the case with one drop slot as well. It's like this: * Do VD without fetters, kill Lilith in ~5min from entry with no risk. * Do VD with fetters, say you aim for one. You let Lilith get TP and do a move, kill fetter then Lilith. If you do it right, it will take 8-12min. Odds are she will do another TP move while you're doing the fetter and yup, more fetters. Realistically it will take ~15min to do fetters. I did two at one point. I don't have a lot of data, someone else will have to weigh in. But I did not see a significant increase in drops by killing fetters. I did see a higher number of double drops compared to non-fetters though. And the risk is much higher, to the point where you can wipe and waste your time. In my case I can not bring a main job thief and also do fetters, or VD at all. TH4 is on though. Quote: Like, why doesn't killing spitewardens just guarantee a damn drop? It should, but it doesn't. I have seen more empty treasure pools (of armor) than I have seen double drops by killing fetters. And this with missing literally every armor piece across alts, though have the weapons I think. As ye old saying goes:

When you say fetter, are you talking about killing the spitewarden or the actual fetters? I did a search of the old Champion of the Dawn thread, and I see several comments from people complaining (including myself, ironically) that the drop rate for doing Spitewarden method was badly weighted toward the common items (sword, staff etc). It seems the problem with Spitewarden method is the exact same problem with Shinryu: high drop rate, extremely low distribution on armor. Which is the problem. Stop making fights with insanely terrible distro rates on the good items. Then you won't have to address it 4 years later. Lakshmi.Buukki said: » When you say fetter, are you talking about killing the spitewarden or the actual fetters? Both. You need to kill the fetter in order to target the spirewarden and kill it, like Sheol. Ok right. Figured I'd ask if you maybe were just killing the fetter only.
But anyways, yeah just bad implementation on drop pools. Ou/Omen bosses have the same problem. I have no issue with them making getting drops easier, but it would seem to accomplish far more if they stopped making distribution for gear so terrible to begin with. They think it's extending the content for longer, but all it's making people do is skip the fight altogether and just buy the ***from Trove. I’ve got two questions :o hopefully really easy.
1. What’s a rough target for NIN eva to aim for in this day and age? 2. We were doing The Orbs Rad 2 and null masque dropped. Friend lotted it. Everyone warped or passed and masque fell to the floor. One pt had QM on and floored the second they warped out. Can this affect it? Or something my buddy missed? Said he had inv space for it. QM takes precedence over all
If someone acts (lot or pass) on an item in treasure pool, it will force to whoever has QM. Yes I know I'm crazy but I was bored I guess? Fun fact - if you fully grow and let the higher rank Monsters hang in your garden for about 6months you get about 250k when you send them back home.

Idk if waiting 6months for a measly 250k is a good way to make gil.
In fact I do know - it's definitely not. So did we reach a consensus on the Archduke stuff?
Not available in game for now? Not seen anyone say they got it yet, JP or EN. Going with "No".
And since they used the same words as last time for the new campaign that starts tomorrow, it won't be available then either. Quote: Please note that there will be no changes to the spoils you can earn from the battlefield on these three occasions. As usual, I fell down a stupid rabbit hole.
SE confirmed at some point that your odds of beating Twinkbrix in the die roll game to warp to Mine Shaft #2716 are better on specifically Lightsday when you trade 2,716 gil. When was that? I've found a Livejournal post from December 2008 that knew about it, FFXIclopedia appears to have added it via edit sometime around early 2009. Can anyone actually point me to that confirmation? Between the Home Point and having the KI letting you warp anytime for 2k gil as long as you don't do the now-useless Pulling the Strings fight, it's totally useless. I just like knowing stuff. Theres an edit from June 2007 on oldwiki referencing the 2716 trade, but it didnt know the benefits of it.
LightningHelix said: » the now-useless Pulling the Strings fight Almost useless*. Tactical Ring So long as you don't swap out of it and lose the enchantment (this was poor design). Does anybody know what this "changes to the method for acquiring the Malignance equipment in ★Maiden of the Dusk" in the update notes on the home page is all about?
Am I going to be rewarded finally for not doing more Lilith spam than I've already done? I've done well over 100 runs and I've only got 3/5. I refused to do more because I want to enjoy myself when I'm playing video games. |
