I don't believe anyone said best. Xoanon has just a bit more staff skill. 242 vs 250

It's "preferable" to mpaca because more jobs can wear it. MNK and WAR being the point of discussion, usually.

Mpaca R0 INT+15 MND+15 Staff skill +242 Magic Accuracy skill +255
Xoanon INT+20 MND+20 Staff skill +250 Magic Accuracy skill +250
Talking about Asura pugs here. A few times I got invited to Ngai V25 on BRD and asked about having Xoanon. I said I'm sure Mpaca is fine and there was grumbling. Didn't think I was missing anything...

How does EP loss actually work with death? I just died and went from 1.6m to 1.24m, something like 350k lost but then only lost about 25k when I Arised my char. 350k is brutal, I thought it was 10% of til next level? This was something like 20% of total EP for the level.

How do you know how much EP you lost before you raised? It's not possible to go into the menu to see that while dead.

Presuming it's some addon, maybe it was wrong?

What are these numbers, the amount TNL or the amount you had?

It's supposed to be 2%, not 10%. I've never validated/verified this myself, but I'd imagine it probably it is. It should be 2% of the ep required to get the level, not of the ep YOU HAVE. If you're ML47, the TNL is 2,557,728 meaning you lose 51,154 EP when you die. No level of ML would cause you to lose 350k, unless the wiki is wrong about EP lost.

My bad, I missed a digit hahaha. 158k/1.62M not 1.58M/1.62M.

I am using EXP Watch.

Can you repurchase the Esthete's items from TVR mission 9-3 for bayld if you throw them out after you've completed that mission?

They can't go on a Storage Slip for god only knows what reason but I kinda like the coat but I don't currently have it in a lockstyle so I want to know if I can just ditch it and get it back later.

...and I don't want to risk it if you can't. So if someone doesn't care, can you toss yours and check with Runje Desaali?

e: oh and speaking of Adoulin Items You Can't Storage Slip, can you reacquire the Delegate's Garb/Councilor's Garb somehow in the same situation? I'd like to keep them if you can't ever get them back but inventory space, even in Storage, is precious.

You can definitely get Councilor's Garb back by talking to Ploh Trishbahk. She checks if you have your adoulin ring, councilor's cuffs, and councilor's garb, and gives back the first one you're missing once per game day (so if you drop all 3, you'll need 3 game days to get all 3 back). I would like to think Delegate's Garb and HQ ring work the same once unlocked, but I never unlocked them personally to verify.

Can confirm that HQ rings are rebuyable, I've swapped several times. Should probably swap again because I'm not playing RDM at the moment and I took Weatherspoon for lovely Seraph Blades. Thanks for confirming the rest! Plus five or so slots in my Storage, lmao.

Did they remove the level cap in Dynamis-D? Without really thinking about it, I entered at level 67 for the silver voucher. I had thought the level cap was 95.

Its possible the level requirement is only checked when trying to get the Empty Hourglass from Aurix the first time?

Though, from SE's patch notes when Divergence was added, theres no level requirement
Quote:
Restrictions on Participation
Players will not be able to participate in Dynamis-Divergence if any of the following are true.

- One or more participants does not possess an empty hourglass.
- 50 or more parties are currently participating.
- One or more party members is currently awaiting entry with a different party.
- One or more party members has participated in Dynamis-Divergence in the last 60 hours (Earth time).
- One or more party members is currently located in a Mog House.

Its on the wiki as such though, but going through the history:

Zackily noted a possible lv95 requirement with ???'s
Spicy changed it to a verification needed icon.
HGaleon removed the tag, and its been blindly assumed ever since.

Today I've removed that information from the page.

does WoC have any hate resets or something that would make it ignore pets? finished farming combatant torque and decided to test my overdrive set. the only actions I took were deploy > overdrive > 3 maneuvers. pet did a SC for 6% damage, then WoC abruptly made a beeline for me and kept following as pet did damage. died before I could ventriloquy because I was so surprised.

When casting a GEO Bubble on a large target such as Odyssey bosses, when is the target considered "in" the bubble? Does the centre of the mob have to be in the bubble or is it more like any part of the model (roughly) has to be in the bubble?

How much progress do you get per imprimatur for Coalition assignments that are more than one rank below your current standing? The internet says a vague "less" but I'm wondering if there's an actual formula. I assume it scales down so that you can't spam the little baby ones, but I don't know how hard it scales down. Just trying to avoid doing Lost Articles and such more than once.

...And uh, not that I'm implying anything but, hypothetically, how much progress do you get for Coalition assignments above your rank? Or do you not get any progress from them until you rank up and then they magically start counting? (still funny to me that specifically Idris and Epeo check for your actual coalition ranks but The Ygnas Directive/The Arciela Directive/Golden Shovel Cordon all just check for 68 unique completions)

I'm trying to understand something about earning RP in ody. I've been doing v25 x3 to boost the first fight of the next entry while using an amp. But what happens if I fail to do 5% on that NM or dc, do I lose the 3x entry boost and/or the amp boost? Or is there no risk meaning I could just reenter again and do the 5%? (at the expense of a moglophone ki)

You only use the boosted charge when you use the mog amp on the next nm you get down past 5%. So in this case you can warp out and start all over again and you will get the boost on the first nm should you have an amp and got it past 5% and lived til the end.

If you did however keep going and got the #2 nm past 5% and time out, that will grant you the full charged boost. Since 1 nm was unsuccessful at get past 5% then you will no longer have the charge since you only did 5% on less than 3 consecutive nms in the same run.

From BG wiki

"Raise I: 50% Restored.
Raise II: 75% Restored.
Raise III: 90% Restored.
Arise: 90% Restored.
Reraise IV: 90% Restored."

I meant the initial EXP loss before any recovered by raises. I was tired and missed a digit anyway, but is it really 2% of total TNL? At ML50 buffer this would be -100k for every death?

Did a quick test, because why not. All listed values are correct at ML50(though it's not quite 100k).

Initial: 3,817,560
While dead: 3,741,209 (-76,351)
After arise: 3,809,924 (-7,636)
While dead: 3,733,573 (-76,351)
After arise reraise: 3,802,288 (-7,636)
While dead: 3,725,937 (-76,351)
after raise 2: 3,783,200 (-19,088)
while dead: 3,706,849 (-76,351)
after raise1: 3,745,024 (-38,176)

So Arise RR gives Arise/R3 exp loss and not R1 exp loss as expected?

I thought it was already pretty well accepted that it was RR3, but I forgot to click it off so recorded the data anyway. The takeaway is that it is 2%, at least at ML50, and zixxer'/bg-wiki had the numbers correct.

Wiki says it gives reraise 3, I don't know why anyone would expect R1 EXP loss from this, except guessing and not bothering to check.

I assumed it would be R1 exp loss because SE are sadistic.
Also because people cancel it and demand R3... but yeah, Asura pugs.

Not surprised to hear these random myths. You'd think with easy access to the answers of any question you could possibly think of, one of the 6 people in the party (maybe even the WHM?!) would be able to find out this wasn't true, but I guess random superstition > fact-checking. Think of all the MP that's been wasted on worthless raises.

Real talk though, if the WHM has decent MP and there's not too much else going on, dropping (any) RR to get a new Arise is a legit play to reduce the weakened time by 2 minutes, we do this all the time.
