So no melee ever comes to anything on a non Empyrean/Relic job (other than to proc), or at least they shouldn't. Thus 90% of players will have aftermath up the majority of the time. So even if someone finished the afterglow effect, it would essentially be useless.

For the amount of work that's required for the afterglow, they should give AoE EnDoom with capped haste and 50% Quintuple attack.

Wonder what the stage 1 item will be. since I highly doubt I'll attempt to do stage 2.... Maybe it'll be something like kill NM x amount of times with weapon equipped. Then again, it could be a lesser amount of the items for Afterglow. Is still speculation at this point, I suppose.

So to complete stage two you need:
Relic: 300 ADL items
Mythic: 100 PW items
Emp: 2000 Riftdross
Is that correct? Just came across that from reading. Apparently the trials were updated the last test server update.
Edit: Well nvm, I see where it was posted from.
So Byrth pulled those values from the dats? That's why the test server still says the older values?

I honestly don't see the empyrean weapons being that hard to upgrade in comparison to relic/mythic. The reason is that both relic and mythic are restricted by timed events (i.e. you can only do dynamis 2 hours a day, and you can only turn in 10 plates for zeni once per game day). You can spam voidwatch as much as you want, and both botulus rex and ig-alima take only 5 minutes to kill each. I'm going to assume that most people will be spamming ig-alima for now. The next update will probably usher in pouches or something too.
But who cares anyway. Afterglow is lol.

So that if you have afterglow on from a partymember, then trigger your own aftermath, the afterglow gets overwritten?
Not sure about this at all, just think I saw it somehwere.

I think empyrians are gonna be overpowered now lol... Since when do DD not have an empyrian in VW now... SO yes, you will be probably getting other peoples afterglow when we get there. Empyreans have always been overpowered when it comes to time/cost investment and what they are capable of dealing out.
I'm sure some people could actually make an Empyrean to 90 faster than an elemental trial to 90.

alima isn't too tough from what ive fought but rex has been terrible from the groups ive been in.
i joined a shout group knowing the leader wasn't the smartest guy in the world, but i went out on a leap of faith
2 hours later people finally arrive at the rift, i was asked to change to sam/drg, i didn't ask why, i just did it, on a leap of faith
3 hours later i get tired of dying to that damn nm and quit. go to jeuno, and another shout by a guy i KNOW to be good. Has done successful runs before. I join in and repeat the process above.
maybe I've had crap luck with this nm, maybe it's the people, but since then i have HATED this one and not been able to find a solid strategy to even kill it.

| [dev1065] Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean Weapon Upgrades
With the forthcoming version update, players will be able to upgrade equipment to level 99 in two stages:
Stage 1
Possible upgrades will include damage, delay, and weapon skill damage along with other attributes.
The planned difficulty level for the corresponding Magian upgrade trials will be such that a majority of players with the appropriate level 95 equipment will likely be able to complete them.
*This content is not yet available on the test server.
Step 2
Possible upgrades will include special animations along with "Afterglow" effects that grant status benefits to party members.
The corresponding Magian trials will be exceedingly difficult to complete, such that only a select number of PCs will be able to upgrade weapons to this stage.
*Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla may not be imbued with Afterglow effects.
Upgraded Attributes
Please refer to the following charts for descriptions of upgraded weapon attributes:
To test this content, please talk to the Magian Moogle and input the corresponding trial number, as listed in the charts above.
Afterglow
Upgrading a weapon to stage two will result in the addition of an Afterglow effect.
Afterglow bestows beneficial status effects upon party members in an area surrounding (but excluding) the wielder.
*Party members must be inside the specified area when Afterglow is activated to receive status effects.
The duration for each Afterglow is thirty seconds.
*The effect of a certain Afterglow will be overwritten if an identical one is activated within that thirty-second timeframe.
Separate Afterglow effects will stack if they are cast within the same effect duration.
There are five categories of Afterglow effects:
- Relic Weapons: Increased accuracy and ranged accuracy
- Mythic weapons: Increased attack and ranged attack
- Empyrean weapons: Increased critical hit rate
- Aegis: Reduced magic damage taken
- Ochain: Reduced physical damage taken
Afterglow effects activate when the weapon skill corresponding to the equipped weapon
For Aegis and Ochain, the effects activate when Shield Bash is used.
The hierarchy for overwriting Aftermath and Afterglow effects is as follows:
One's Own Aftermath: Lv3>Lv2>Lv1>Party Member's Afterglow

Weapons upgraded to stage two will display special visual effects when equipped:

Mythic Weapons

Empyrean Weapons

Visual effects will display in the following priority:
Main Weapon>Ranged Weapon>Sub Weapon
Other Information of Note
Additional planned features, such as equipment-specific magic spells and pets, have been postponed to allow for more thorough testing concerning attributes, the number of potential users and the process by which to obtain them. One consideration is whether to implement such features as another stage of the above upgrades, or to apply them to a different set of equipment. Also under deliberation is whether to limit the availability of such equipment or make it relatively simple to obtain.
