Also, afterglow = sphere but they didn't want to use that term so it seems special. So SE was obsessed with weakness triggering now they are obsessed with getting buffs to everyone but yourself!

Awesome idea of SE. I really like this concept. Basically, they are still not sure if to make the Afterglow Trials "exceedingly" hard or not.
I really hope they do.
With a concept like that, it would respect those people who already made a relic and invested lots of time/money into it. Simply because they probably will not be totally overshadowed by the Afterglow users, meaning they still have a more than viable weapon for their main.
But even if you want to be gods, relic wielders. A 100m relic is achievable by most players without too much time invested.
If you do not make another "step" to it to distinguish the elitists from the pros, elitists get bored. Bored, because there is nothing left in the game to go after which not at least 100 other people on your server has, except for mythics, which are sadly often inferior to relics or empys. So are those people supposed to level a job they do not really like just to make use of the acquired mythic?
Those few of us who really enjoy this game and who do not mind investing a large amount of time for "topping off" equipment or who like the epeen feeling of having something that is extremely rare, we still get the chance to make that possible.
In my opinion, it is NOT meant in ANY game for one person, even if elitist, to build 5 or more relics / empyreans or with other words, build the best weapons in the game for multiple of their jobs and max them out. No matter how "hardcore" they are.
Make things special again, SE. 100 Arch DL kills would totally be fine, a few hundreds would also be survivable.
Do not make them "5", please.
Typing while phoning, mistakes in sentence structure or spelling result of a lack of multitasking abilities.

And this will be interesting. I dont know if I have even seen a 95 emp on Cerb (I am sure they exist), now 99+afterglow is going to be lol. It keeps people in the game longer so I cant blame SE.

I'm just worried. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying I think SE destroyed the "large LS" aspect of this game. Back in HNMLS days, you would do limbus, dyna, sea, etc etc etc. Even the DB's who would get what they want and leave, still had numberous events to get their ***from before they left.
With legion, I wouldn't see anyone staying longer than just enough runs to get what they want. If you have 3 groups.... group A being the original members, group B being lower ladder members (or low attendance w/e), and group C being future members. The only reason group B sticks around to help group A get all their ***, is the anticipation that a group C will come in to allow B to become A's when A is done getting their stuff.
With the new events and modern era: Group A gets their crap too fast for new recruits and ***falls apart too fast to keep the shell running. If this happens once or twice to a person they become reluctant to join new shells, etc.
Unless there is an influx of 3-4 different "quality" events that are released not far apart, and require more than 3-4 boxed mules to do, there won't be anything to justify large linkshells for a while. Hell, I don't think we'll have a dozen afterglow relics by 2013 because the only people who will get them are the people with a dozen people stupid enough to spam 150-300 archlords, with no benefit to themselves (assuming they don't make them drop from legion etc).

Agreed. ^This. No bloody way in hell am I going to bother with "Afterglow" if I can get the same stats on the weapon without having to get whatever "exceedingly hard" trials done. 1000x drops from ADL can suck it.

| [dev1065] Relic, Mythic, and Empyrean Weapon Upgrades
With the forthcoming version update, players will be able to upgrade equipment to level 99 in two stages:
Stage 1
Possible upgrades will include damage, delay, and weapon skill damage along with other attributes.
The planned difficulty level for the corresponding Magian upgrade trials will be such that a majority of players with the appropriate level 95 equipment will likely be able to complete them.
*This content is not yet available on the test server.
Step 2
Possible upgrades will include special animations along with "Afterglow" effects that grant status benefits to party members.
The corresponding Magian trials will be exceedingly difficult to complete, such that only a select number of PCs will be able to upgrade weapons to this stage.
*Gjallarhorn and Daurdabla may not be imbued with Afterglow effects.
Upgraded Attributes
Please refer to the following charts for descriptions of upgraded weapon attributes:
To test this content, please talk to the Magian Moogle and input the corresponding trial number, as listed in the charts above.
Afterglow
Upgrading a weapon to stage two will result in the addition of an Afterglow effect.
Afterglow bestows beneficial status effects upon party members in an area surrounding (but excluding) the wielder.
*Party members must be inside the specified area when Afterglow is activated to receive status effects.
The duration for each Afterglow is thirty seconds.
*The effect of a certain Afterglow will be overwritten if an identical one is activated within that thirty-second timeframe.
Separate Afterglow effects will stack if they are cast within the same effect duration.
There are five categories of Afterglow effects:
- Relic Weapons: Increased accuracy and ranged accuracy
- Mythic weapons: Increased attack and ranged attack
- Empyrean weapons: Increased critical hit rate
- Aegis: Reduced magic damage taken
- Ochain: Reduced physical damage taken
Afterglow effects activate when the weapon skill corresponding to the equipped weapon
For Aegis and Ochain, the effects activate when Shield Bash is used.
The hierarchy for overwriting Aftermath and Afterglow effects is as follows:
One's Own Aftermath: Lv3>Lv2>Lv1>Party Member's Afterglow

Weapons upgraded to stage two will display special visual effects when equipped:

Visual effects will display in the following priority:
