The Last Dance: Gearing Paradigms for a New Age
By Aeyela 2013-02-15 14:33:36
Maybe more importantly, no matter what your strategy DNC/THF is going to have a pretty difficult time breaking 250 currency without a mule, so congratulations: you've found a viable approach!
The real perk will always remain not having a rage attack everytime I see a Falcorr in Dynamis.

Without 55 bst's in zone 250 is pretty reasonable...

This is refering to doing ws procs or killing dc's? Soloing ep's while procing ja's, ending with 250 means you had really bad competition or had a difficult time with the 20 min.

Yeah, well, considering I took PUP as far as 37 before realizing that THAT SPECIFIC REASON was probably not good enough for what I was getting myself into, I might take a look at this with my dubs teeps ***.

Idk about you but I'm not farming Dynamis in Whitegate.

I actually am considering finally upgrading and augmenting my Etoile Tiara, though. Then I'll store it. I don't need another another 20 seconds of a JA I never use, but it also seems dumb to have all the other junk for DNC that I do have and not have the augmented Tiara.

I mean, I gotta be honest; I haven't really hauled *** for a full two hours in Dynamis since finishing Ebisu. These days I'll go in, get a hundred or so, get bored, and leave after an hour. But at no point was I ever at an EP camp with little enough competition to not get completely screwed by mobs that would Just Not Proc. It's why I stopped doing EPs entirely, unless I was feeling lazy, which in fairness I admit is basically all the time.
I guess what I'm saying is I want to live in a world where I can proc every EP and still maximize killrate.

I like to pretend I farm Dynamis.

Depends how you use your dancer, etc. At the moment, though, I don't feel there is much content in the game where I'm 15 Evasion away from the Hit Rate floor. I tend to either have no problem at all evading it (Abyssea, old content, etc.) or the huge sacrifices that I have to make in order to evade its non-lethal hits just make evasion-tanking a stupid idea (Salvage v2 bosses).
The one thing that I would find Closed Position merits useful for at the moment is the MMM Bugard (Liquidation Maze). I have been killing it just to try and get a Kogglemander to test, and wow. He hits for 600+ damage and is very accurate. I offhand the AGI/Eva Thokcha there, and it would help to have another 15 evasion.

So, damage type weapons.
I obviously use daggers for Piercing. I recently got Shivaji Baghnakhs for blunt. That leaves Slashing, and currently I use Vampiric Claws for that.
Is there a better Slashing option? Sagasinger/Talekeeper? Are they actually Slashing, or piercing like most of the other swords we can wear?

Vampiric Claws are better with capped H2H skill:
D39, 229 delay (no DW) vs. D47, 240 delay (no merits)
Short of Sagasinger or Talekeeper being slashing, I don't think Swords are the way to go.

I could be wrong, but I remember Perseus's Harpe having slashing type damage apart from Weapon skills.
Was it ever tested to see if this persisted for all kinds of Harpe weapons?

BGwiki claims Perseus's Harpe is Slashing damage too, but the other two wikis don't.
I guess Angr Harpe isn't exactly hard to get to test this. Perhaps I'll take a Talekeeper and Angr Harpe to the damage-type Apollyon tonight.

DNC doesn't get Vorpal Blade or even Savage Blade natively, so we're looking at either using Fast Blade or getting +15% DPS by switching to Vampiric Claws.

Limbus I would /war, and the Jailor I would be on a different job anyways (ie Thf or Drk).

The possiblity of Harpes intrigues me though, good offhand to Lex for slashing stuff. (Since dagger ws's are still piercing.)
And if you can dual wield Lex/Harpe, that would beat Claws I would think.
Edit: Don't mind my semi word jumble, kinda distracted by hunger atm.

So I was joking around with a friend, and proposed this question.
anrin obi for the second ws in a Darkness skillchain in Dynamis (double dark weather). Yay or nay?
Basically, guaranteed 25% skillchain bonus (vs 1/3 chance normally) vs a real ws belt.

I don't think it's actually guaranteed to give the bonus in double weather, but I could be wrong. It typically picks the least resistant element.

Aw, that is disappointing (thank goodness).
Oh yeah, did you find out any cool new things about Angr Harpe and its ilk?

My apologies if this has been answered recently, but I didn't see anything in the last few pages.
What are we looking at as far as the optimal Curing Waltz set nowadays? Outside of random +CHR pieces, I'm using:
Anwig Salade with Waltz Ability delay -2
AF1 body
Asklepian ring
Valseur's ring
Roundel earring
Dance shoes with 3% potency (still trying, years later)
Is CHR gear for the other slots all that important, keeping inv space in mind? 1-5 extra HP is not worth it in my opinion, 50 HP would be. If so, what are you guys using? Also, any other cure potency other than what I have, outside of AF2 head and Sonia's?
I'm working to get this all updated and stuff, until then, read what's already here!
Current sets on pages 83-84.
In general, check the last few pages of the thread, as the most updated information will be there.
