I think the dancer community on my server is trolling me. Tonight is the second night within a week that I have received some totally off the wall /tells asking about gear in a really weird way.

About a week ago someone asked me "Should I get longing belt or scouters belt if I have dusk+1 hands already?" which I was like wuhhhhh? Turned out "longing" = headlong so I wuhhhhhhhh'd again. After about 30 minutes explaining to them about having a TP vs Eva set or making a hybrid they eventually said they gave up because headlong was too expensive >.>

Then last night I got a random /tell from someone asking me what earrings I should be using to run in... I tried to say it didn't matter but they prodded so I finally sent them after the -pdt earrings from the linkshell quest in Vunkerl or to get the light earrings with resist bind in Mis.

Weird stuff, I dunno how I got picked for these questions or if you guys run into stuff like that but I thought it was pretty funny and that I might share it with some fellow dancers.

People generally apologize for bothering me and then ask pretty reasonable questions when they contact me in game. Your server must be "special!"

I should point out too that they are always polite about it, ask if I am busy first etc. I get the more reasonable questions too from time to time, it's just that these two cases were so weird and so close together that it made me laugh a bit.

The first thing I always ask though is that they look in their left hand, if the weapon they are holding is long and blue I offer to take them out to Grauberg [A] to at least get the Dom ops dagger and enough cruor/gil for an Oynos and run them through how that works. I can shake my head at a 4/5 pink o-hat dancer and just leave it be, but for some reason seeing that damnable blue sword in someones off-hand just fills me with a violent rage.

I've officially decided I hate full kacura harness DNCs more than full pink ones... no idea why it just irks me. Especially the full +1 set. Time takes to get that gil could be spent to getting the +1 for 4/5 and leave the body as kacura even for people who have no interest in VW, etc.

Edit: Or Alcide's really. Same thing.

Seeing as this is the most used dnc thread I'mma leave this here.

Galbir made a rule to /tell you when saber is available and when haste samba is down. I have my tell set to ding at me so this really helps. I'm sure most of you already have something like this but I (obviously) just got it and I love it :P

And the saber wait is assuming 5/5 merits. I brought down the timer by 1 sec just to allow time for the /tells to be precessed, etc.

All these daggers confuse me on which one to keep

Should I go :
Aluh/STR Thokcha and main Exenterator with Aliyat Chakram or
Aluh/Lux and main Evisceration with Charis Feather

Maybe not for 99 twash, just for 90 maybe? Idk I plan on mainhanding it inside and for vw but for normal crap outside probably offhanding.

what's your opinion of vassal's mantle? i was considering it for while i was in saber dance with af2 legs. i haven't spread-sheeted the difference yet, just figured with our double attack around 50%~ the loss of 3% for 5 more attack (more with curry and berserk) could beat it, with the perk of 5 evasion.

Unless double attack caps at 50~% (without considering that Saber Dance wears off progressively), Atheling still beats it.

DA isn't known to cap, but it has diminishing returns the higher up you go. Even still, I seriously doubt 5 attack will trump even the mitigated 3% DA.

I don't even think in a perfect situation, where 5 attack essentially caps your attack, that it would be more effective than the 3% DA.

DA doesn't have diminishing returns like everyone seems to think.

Would love to see someone with 105% da or something. Would it proc over itself? Would you literally never stop swinging? Would it open a black hole and have a Moogle pop out and go "Kupooo! Noooo!"?

i suppose, was just a thought that crossed my mind when i was looking over the new gear and i figured i'd ask to see if anyone else mapped it out or where it's unanimous that everyone says otherwise.

oh well, not like i need another inv-1

Mind clarifying for me then (Serious question, not being stand-offish or anything) how DA stacks?

At 100% DA, will you DA every attack round (Assuming no TA, QA, etc.), or does each % after the first become slightly less than 1%?

The gains themselves from DA is linear, the increase from x to y is the only thing with diminishing returns.

You have 5 DA, your average hits per round is 1.05. You add another 3 DA and your average hits per round is 1.08, not 1.0785.

Even if you were at the "right spot" (assuming it exists, I don't think it does) that +5 attack would increase your damage more than +3% DA, +3% DA would also serve increase your rate of TP gain and the increase to WS frequency would push DA ahead.

Also remember that RCBs cap out to +150 @ 652 attack.

Food works off your attack before % buffs, so we're not in any real danger of capping RCBs without a minuet or two.
