The proposed theoretical Denali Bonnet +5 blows all other TPing options out of the water, but there is a lot of suspicious floating around that set.

This page: http://www.geocities.jp/ff11item/test/Armor.html
translated here: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/106679-Test-Server-Findings?p=4914923&viewfull=1#post4914923

Claims it is:
Denali Bonnet+5 Def34 STR+6 AGI+14 Ratk+6 Macc+6 MAB+6 Crit hit rate+4% Set: Occasionally deals severe damage

and claims Denali legs are:
Denali Kecks+5 Def47 HP+35 STR+9 AGI+9 Atk+14 Eva+14 Haste+6% Set: Occasionally deals severe damage

So people have been saying that they are backwards. iwanttobelieve.jpg

The problem is that none of the rest of the set really matches either.

Denali Wristbands+5 Def28 DEX+8 VIT+8 AGI+8 Acc+10 Eva+10 Enhances Fast Cast(+4) Haste+4% Set: Occasionally deals severe damage
Where did the -DT, STR, and MND go? (does not compute)

Denali Gamashes+5 Def26 DEX+10 AGI+10 MND+10 Atk+16 Ratk+10 Double Attack+3% Set: Occasionally deals severe damage
Where did the MAcc go? (secretly body?)

Denali Jacket+5 Def63 Acc+12 Haste+4% Double Attack+3% Triple Attack+3% Quadruple Attack+3% Set: Occasionally deals severe damage
Where did the AGI and Attack go? (secretly feet?)

The sets just don't match each other very well at all. I am not convinced they are accurate in any way. The only thing that looks right are the Defense values.

I'm not sure that I believe that either. Sounds like a completely new set.

If it is an entirely new set at the stats are accurate:
Head - Best WS head for Exenterator and possibly Evisceration?

Body - Best delay-capped TP body. It also has a lot of fTP for WSs, but I don't think we have a WS that would take advantage of it enough to outpace other options.

Hands - Best evasion and Acc TP hands of course, but Brego might win out for things like Dynamis. Depends on the set bonus and your dDEX.

Legs - Incredible TP gear. Attack+14 and STR+3 along with massive evasion and 2% Haste in exchange for 5% DA during Saber Dance. Without Saber Dance it's a no-brainer to wear them. Even with it you may be better off wearing them.

Feet - Athos's Boots replacement. Our best WS feet for everything probably.

I think it's an entirely new set. If you look at askar zucchetto, the progression from +1 to +5 has rather far (rather downgrade on haste) from the NQ version.

...but here is another question!

What is better for a DNC fighting DC Dynamis monsters, 25 STR from Boost-STR or 25 DEX from Boost-DEX?

here's one i just threw together

each thokcha gives 20~ evasion so you get
37 +20 +20 ~ 77 eva plus some agi
25% haste (1% off)
and 27 subtle blow

you can make some swaps around in there, not really sure what to use for a back piece. In abyssea this will probably be overkill and you can swap the weapons out for something else. Outside abyssea it depends on what your doing.
A potential modification to this set would be to look at AGI as an additional means of reducing TP feed. This is moreso relevant if lowmanning/soloing NMs than fodder since it's unlikely that fodder mobs will get enough TP to WS prior to 25% either way. As such, increasing damage output will at times (often even) be the better option.

Suggestions for such a build would be ocelomeh headpiece +1 (or NQ) and Eurus' ledelsens or Athos's boots.

i knew there was some better feet but couldn't remember what. thanks~

You could look at my previous coruscanti observations where I switched my offhand from STR Thokcha to Coruscanti. Now knowing that Coruscanti was buying me 5% crit rate, it looks like the additional 15 DEX was giving me +8% crit rate. I dunno if you can look at the dex totals I had posted and back-estimate the AGI of the targets based on that. I'd re-link the post from a few pages back but I'm on a phone on the way to DC to catch my plane.

As an observation:

Hume DNC/THF 5/5 Critical Hit Rate Merits
92 DEX+40 in TP gear
Avg. Critical Hit Rate vs. DC Mobs in Dynamis Qufim: 14-15%
5% Crit rate Floor
5% from Merits
~4-5% from dDEX alone

Hume DNC/THF 5/5 Critical Hit Rate Merits
92 DEX+55 in gear
Coruscanti offhand (Dex +15, Crit +5% to offhand)
Rancor Mantle nearly fulltime (+5% Crit Rate)
Avg. Critical Hit Rate vs. DC Mobs in Dynamis Qufim: 29-31%

Considering about half of my hits should be from Coruscanti, it should be adding ~2.5% to Critical Hit Rate.

29%(>=*) - 5% (base) -5% (merits) - 2.5% (Coruscanti) --> >=16.5%* Crit rate from dDEX, so Coruscanti is giving me a total of +11-12% crit rate from dDEX compared to using a Thokcha offhand (~14% total with crit+).

Not bad.

*My actual crit rate may be higher, because there were times when I didn't have Saber Dance up, and thus wasn't wearing Rancor Mantle.

I remember someone saying the DT went up to -3 but disappeared after the +3. Weird stuff, with similar occurrences on other pieces. I'm not particularly worried about it either way until the revamp comes out though, just hopeful for some new big improvements.

I think it actually never has -DT based on the link I posted. Google translate translates Denali properly, and I only see stats being added.

Anyway, Byrth, I'd estimate that Boost-DEX would be enough to cap dDEX for a Twashtar DNC at least, and is probably worth at least +10% critical hit rate.

My initial crit rate (before Coruscanti):

Hume DNC/THF 5/5 Critical Hit Rate Merits
92 DEX+40 in TP gear
Avg. Critical Hit Rate vs. DC Mobs in Dynamis Qufim: 14-15%
5% Crit rate Floor
5% from Merits
~4-5% from dDEX alone

Suggests that the mobs on average had 92-102 AGI. This is over multiple runs and 3 mob types (Bat / Diremite / Tri Bat), and it will obviously vary between them, but it might be reasonable to estimate that their VIT is also around that range (for estimating the benefits of Boost-STR).

Anyway, at the worst then, with 102 AGI on the mob side, 92+40+25 = 157, so dDEX is 55, giving a capped critical hit rate from dDEX.

There's a 5 DEX leeway there. I had higher dex since I was /THF, but DNC/WAR (89 DEX), DNC/NIN (90 DEX), DNC/RDM (87 DEX), would all still have capped dDEX but DNC/WHM (85 DEX) would not.) Still that's the worst case, so it's in reality probably lower on the mob side and easier to cap dDEX.

Boost-STR is giving you +25 STR (+6-7 base damage, depending), and 12.5 attack.

Rank 5 needs something like 48 dSTR to cap out? If the mobs have similar VIT, we're not likely to hit that cap even with Boost STR.

Just examining it on the surface, I think 10-11% C.H.R. will end up beating out the fSTR/attack for melee DoT, although Boost-STR will help exenterator out significantly more. We spend a lot of time trying to proc (not WSing) in Dynamis, so I'm inclined to lean toward Boost-DEX.

I just wanted to drop in and say THANK YOU for this thread. I am a blm main, but I have been playing around on my dnc more and more lately! I will be the first to admit I don't get all the maths (and I work in finance, so that's pretty scary), so having stuff like this available to me is awesome!

That's fine. I would just need you to use Aeolian Edge against a Wild Rabbit (or really anything below level 20ish) with the same TP on Thundersday and Lightsday.

Coming Iceday is probably the soonest time I can get to play, so yes. I'll probably can catch those 2 days.

But why lightsday though? Just some random unrelated day to WS?

Yeah, ease of testing and no day/weather procs possible. Also, those are exactly the days and WS I used for the assault weapon testing recently, and that is the other option (compared to Mekira-oto) for how this works.

BTW,
Quote:
Doesn't assist your main hand damage aside from dDEX crits or WSC for DE/Evis/Rudra when offhanded.
Crit rate+ only applies to this dagger.
These 2 lines ought to be removed from Coruscanti per finding 2-3 pages ago.

3 hit.. not enough, I know but I guess I'll try next time with hot shot or flaming arrow since damage doesn't vary with TP.

446 - 110/111 tp
394 - 104 TP
439 - 100 TP

98+7 = 105 DEX
78+7 = 85 INT

Even 1 WS is fine as long as we know the TP (with Aeolian Edge). Were those with the gloves on and all on Thundersday?

Also, what level were you?

Okay, perfect. Your numbers are exactly what I would expect for that setup (middle one is a day penalty.) It looks like there is no bonus from gloves on iceday.

Nevermind, figured it out.

No, you need one on Thundersday (AE is Impaction) so we can find out how large the bonus is.
