Hail all fellow Windurstian:

The day has came, Castle Oztroja (S) has fallen. That means a number of things, and that includes:

Plucking Wings Campaign Ops in Castle Oztroja!!!!

Many other things are possible too. Windurst will also invade Northlands. If Windurst takes over a certain northland region, more cool stuff happens too!

So do your Campaign ops (for money haha) and help Windurst to be #1 in Shadowreign by holding (S) areas and assist Northland invasions!

This has not happened for a long time, so better take advantage of it!

(Ama in Role Playing Mode)

So I appeal to Vana'diel citizens!
The Tarutarus and Mithras need you.
Long Live Windurst!

So far it has only been Japanese in there. I finished 2 runs with a small Japanese group (just to be safe, it is actually quite easy). An earring dropped, but I lost the lot (laugh).

Come on now, we need more folks there. The other stuff can wait, but it is quite likely this may only last one week. I would prefer to last longer, but I am not betting on that.

This is the week to do some cool campaign - WoG stuff, so you better do. It is not limited to farming Roundel Earrings (price is gonna crash haha), but also you can do get Northland Campaign battle against along side with cats and midgets.

Awesome!

I love whenever Plucking Wings opens up on my server (once a year or whatever >.<).

Good luck Cerberus!

As an FYI, as long as you have completed the (simple) quest "Snakes on the Plain" (lol), you can switch your allegiance to Windurst in WotG. If you have never been allied with Windurst before, there is no penalty for switching. If you *have* been allied with Windurst previously, you will be penalized your highest two Campaign medals. This might be important, since you must have a certain minimum Medals level to receive the Campaign Ops. As an aside, you can prevent losing your medals by progressing in the Windurst branch of the WotG main nation-questlines.

Got my earring last night with a help from a good friend, so I am somewhat less gimp now :)

Also as part of unintended consequence for the rush for the OP is the price of Cuchulain's Belt: the price of the belt collapsed 90% in 2 days. So if you want a nice old school WS/Sneak Attack belt, this is your chance to get one.

From my experience and words from some other folks that we ran into, it seems the drop rate is approximately 20-40%. It is not too bad at all. I have actually seen 1 more earring than belt (5 tries yesterday + 2 on Sunday = 2 earrings + 1 belt).

Anyway, the percentages (for the top items to drop) are much better than some old school KS BCs. I am not going to get started with comparisons with old school Salvage or modern Voidwatch.

Aye, got my Roundel about three months ago, at least I think that was when our last Plucking Wings was. I had terrible luck I suppose, I went like 1/10 on the earring...;;

But good luck Cerberus on Plucking Wings! Hope people don't have the same luck as me.

So I just tried soloing this but died at very low health because stun from Sudden Lunge just stopped landing during his 2hr, I mean my blue magic skill isn't capped but I'm casting in 392 skill so I would have thought that would be enough.

Would it be better to kite during it's 2hr?

How about you stick with Head Butt ?

When we last had this Op, his move "Dark Invocation" or something to that effect was what was killing me, not so much the 2hr AoE spam.

Good luck OP, Plucking Wings is very fun, however the madness race to enter the BCNM alone is always HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE

That is an option, but I'd also suggest looking at ways to improve your killspeed. We had the BCNM open back at 90 cap and I only had stuns rarely resist on unusually long fights with 401 skill and around 12-20 macc (didn't bother with my full macc swap, just used my normal macc/haste set).

I really don't think there's any difference in macc between the two. Sudden Lunge is preferable because it gives you a longer window in which the NM is not acting.

I have reason to believe that Sudden Lunge actually gets a stun accuracy bonus that Head Butt does not have.

The problem that had given me problems with Plucking Wing runs have always been spells. Often we had to rely on doing damage on boss to interrupt casting (while waiting Stun/Violent Flourish recast) - that stopped most spells, but when it did fire, it is ouch.

The adds are usually not a problem unless the NIN one decides to use Paralyze nijutsu - which messes up stuns and Violent Flourishes. The adds are numerous enough that utsumemi can be stripped often fast enough, but they hit very weak.

The boss does not last long (a couple minutes), but it will last long enough to nuke hard enough to kill you. So be prepare to stop that silly bird to cast.

I have not tried solo it, the two separate runs I did has been:
1) MNK + DNC
2) MNK + DNC + RDM

I've seen a SAM walk out of the BC alone. Probably set up a tier 3 Fudo SC.

I see you have Almace and RDM 95. @90 cap, I farmed that BC solo with relative ease as RDM/BLM. Perfect Sleep-control. Make sure though, that you get all adds ganged-up for Sleepga. With addle+para, the boss rarly got any spells off (stunned spells/it was para'd). If you did eat a spell, it didn't do overly much dmg (300-400ish).

Recommend keeping Aquaveil along with Phalanx/SS obviously. If the adds wake up in situations the boss giving you a hard time, Aquaveil will make your life much easier.

Aspir/Drain when needed and CDC that bird down!

Pretty much.

It's very easy to solo as SAM if you have a MDT set and a proper Fudo build. SAM/WAR, even.

2/6 Roundel so far, hoping to get a few more today.

Earring selling for 2.5-3 mil this whole week anyway. Was only around 4 mil before the fight was available, so not a huge loss. But I only sold two out of seven :p
