Wait wait wait..... Axe gets the WS that has throwing stars on it?
/sad >.>
Anyway anyone played with the Katana one yet? 5 hits is pretty wow!
It's not bad, It isn't blade: hi, but it might be a good contender with it outside of abyssea might even be better.

Phoenix.Cathaldus said: »Oh, I heard you need 15 merits to even unlock the Weaponskill category First.
By category you mean a WS right? Because all you spend merits on is first unlocking the WS then increased the strength.
Like I said it's something I heard, sounded like a prerequisite for when it's actually implemented onto the real servers.
Might just be false information, however. From the OP:
Quote: To unlock these merit point weapon skills and the corresponding menu, players must first complete a quest offered by the Nomad Moogle NPC in Ru'Lude Gardens.
*To undertake this quest, the player's main job must be level 96 or higher.
*On the test server, the merit point weapon skill menu will be accessible from the start, with no need to complete the aforementioned quest.
I believe the 15 merit points was for the final LB to be able to do the battlefield.

Sounds like something SE would do.

Lol would've been better to do these on the same mobs...
but it's just an example of the damage I was getting in abyssea, I'll test outside in a bit.
Berserk up
Berserk down
Sorry about the bad cropping :<

Can't use them on English version. Reported that JP and French clients are working fine. True, SE just doesnt take the time to translate to english.

it just truly is amazing how much scythe ws just suck.
Over all these years people always complain about drk in melee output NOT magic yet all we get is major Magic ***.
a ws based off of int which is low and heals mp.
Groundbreaking.
SE just drink stupid juice every time they work on drk

Maybe its heavily affected by INT? Isn't it 85% INT?
Probably cant rule it out completely until someone tries an INT build, or just use a brew and compare?

Nightfyre mentioned on my other post that i should let you guys know that i put 5/5 on the weapon also to be noted that i dnt have a INT set up so yeah if that's its base damage, it's bound to still put out low numbers. I'm betting under 3K at most
I can name very few pieces that have INT and ATT built into them too, so it would be hard to build for on DRK

I dnt think its dual modded so maybe its heavily affected by INT i did brew Shinryu and good to note that DRK gets a self skill chain Quietus/Spiral Hell > New Scythe WS = Darkness but in all honesty im begining to believe that SE really wants us to use our JA together. Like Souleater drains way less from ur hp than it used to but still outputs amazing damage. With the add of the Absorb MP WS with decent dmg ur MP can stay capped alot for ur drain's and Scarlet Delirium is based on ur HP (still not sure exactly how its used but i believe its based on how low your hp is) Still to compare to other DD's DRK always get the short end of the stick

Havn't tried Resolution in abyssea, or on Drk for that matter...
But on War I was roughly getting 2k ~ 2.4k damage eachtime.

I would'nt panic so much about these ws's yet though, they're still in the testing process, anything can change between A and B still.

Maybe its heavily affected by INT? Isn't it 85% INT?
Probably cant rule it out completely until someone tries an INT build, or just use a brew and compare? The pattern that seems to be emerging is that all the new WS have the same WSC% for a given number of merits. 5/5 appears to be a 100% WSC value. So yes, stacking mods has a huge impact on the performance of these WS when fully merited.
Leviathan.Quetzacoatl said: »I can name very few pieces that have INT and ATT built into them too, so it would be hard to build for on DRK I saw a couple of new pieces that did, and there's a set of legs coming out with attack+20 acc+20 WSDMG+3% iirc, so there may be hope for better options yet.

Im begining to believe that SE really wants us to use our JA together. Like Souleater drains way less from ur hp than it used to but still outputs amazing damage. Except now GS has a five-hit WS, so just won out in Souleater application too.
Anything Scythe does, GS now does staggeringly better. Single hit? Torcleaver. Multihit+Souleater? Resolution.
Resolution is STR mod. Go ahead and speculate about INT mod applications, Entropy is still yet another joke Guillotine clone.

Played around with Shattersoul a bit. Damage itself was pretty decent for a staff WS (~1300-1900 in Abyssea), but the magic def. down effect caused nukes to do around 10% more damage. Effect lasted ~2 minutes, regardless of TP. Accuracy of the additional effect is really high it seems, it landed on everything I hit (even the VW tonberry that I tried it on). Could be a useful Voidwatch tool with Dusty wings?

Kincard posted this info on bg
Quote: H2H: Shijin Spiral Five-Hit WS, Additional Effect: Plague. TP mods chance of Plague.
Dagger: Exenterator Four-Hit WS, Additional Effect: Accuracy Down. Duration of effect varies with TP.
Sword: Requiescat Five-Hit WS, Non-elemental damage. TP mods Attack (Not sure what it means by this)
Great Sword: Resolution Five-Hit WS, Damage varies with TP.
Axe: Ruinator Four-Hit WS, Accuracy varies with TP.
Great Axe: Upheaval Four-Hit WS, Damage varies with TP.
Scythe: Entropy Four-Hit WS, restores MP based on damage dealt. Damage varies with TP.
Polearm: Stardiver Four-Hit WS, lowers enemy critical hit evasion. Damage varies with TP.
Katana: Blade: Shun Five-Hit WS. TP mods Attack (Same characters as sword)
Great Katana: Tachi: Shoha Two-Hit WS. Damage varies with TP.
Club: Realmrazer Seven-Hit WS. Accuracy varies with TP.
Staff: Shattersoul Four-Hit WS. Lowers enemy magic defense. Chance of effect varies with TP.
Bow: Apex Arrow Triple Damage that ignores defense. Amount ignored varies with TP.
Marksmanship: Last Stand 1-2 Hits, based on ammo remaining. Damage varies with TP.
EDIT: In a Perusal of the JP wiki I've found out the descriptions for the new Sword and Katana WS TP mods have only ever been used before for Iron Tempest and Sturmwind in the JP version. It's exactly what it says on the tin: your attack is modded instead of your F.T.P. In the English version of the game, this distinction is not made and it simply says "Damage varies with TP" for those two weapon skills. It seems that they're taking into consideration that PLD and NIN may have hard times against enemies with high defense and thus made TP mod attack this time instead of F.T.P.
Asked Camate about the video and other ws's and when they will be introduced exactly (for an official response since it hasn't been translated yet by the dev team) and this is what he said:
