in Britain (probably where you guys get it from)

I always thought Canada was colonized primarily by France?

no, canada was colonized by britain along with america, and then a group of french that originally settled around louisiana were forced to move somewhere else and settled in quebec

No, from what I remember, France was first to settle in Canada. Not relevant to topic, soooo....

Edit - Hmm, maybe I'm wrong. It's cool though, British > French.

How good are these deals on Black Friday to make people go bonkers?

Varies by store and the items you're talking about.. Some of the stuff is really good, some is really no different than everyday sales they have going on year round... But you attach 'Black Friday' to it and people go *** nuts.

The best deals are usually on electronics, like 40"+ flatscreen TVs half off, or laptops half off, ***like that.

EDIT: http://bfads.net/

You can just go through that to get an idea of the deals going on if you want to.

I was just going to mention that it seems like a wilder version of Boxing Day. Having it after Christmas is probably a good idea. People are too stuffed with turkey and booze to get all riled up.

Boxing Day is Dec. 26.

Same concept, different reasoning.

Here they give low prices to get people in the doors, the idea is that once they're in they'll spend more money on other ***, stuff that's not on sale. It's all based around the notion that this is when you do most of your Christmas shopping.

"Buy yourself a new flat-screen TV and save a few hundred.. Oh and since you're already here, and you saved all that money on the new TV, you might as well spend what you saved on gifts."

Canada was first settled (from a European standpoint) by the Acadians - Frenchmen, though would have first been discovered by Leif Ericson.

Then the British came in, as there was good fur trade to be done and natives to shovel onto reserves.

that being said, Canada didn't really "start" until Hudson's Bay Company.
