COD: MW3

I'll be heading to the store in about an hour. I'm sure it'll give the me thrills I'm looking for until Skyrim. I'm sure it'll give me nice breaks from Skyrim when I want to shoot people as opposed to hack them up or shoot lightning bolts at them. That's really all I ask of it.

Try not to assault any of the hardcore fanbois while you're waiting, Daemun.

When I went to pre-auth, there were morons sitting there since 6. They will get their copy a good 5-10 min before me.

fun as hell so far...still getting acclaimated, jumped right into MP so not familiar with the maps at all.

went with my friend who preordered it and picked it up midnight release.

just got done playing it for ~2hrs. and i have to say it is 10x better than black ops. its way more fun and there is actually more strategy with perks and stuff.

i wanted to try it out before i buy it this time since i was pretty disappointed with black ops. but so far this is looking really good.

i'm gonna get flak for this, but i thought it was more fun than battlefield3.

battlefield3 has better graphics and crazy huge maps with a lot going for it. but for me i feel like battlefield is a more serious fps that you really need a decent team to work with and do well on.

in CoD i can just jump on for a few hours kill some people and have fun lol, with or without friends or a party.

my dad bought battlefield so i guess i'll pick mw3 up and be blessed with be best of both worlds lol.

well for one thing every bit of DLC that comes out for the next year i will have automatic access to, considering that they were ~$15 or more a pop for black ops it will add up to quite a substantial savings. plus there were other little perks, but nothing seems to be available atm so idk.

Just played through campaign in one sitting - verrry good. The metacritic PC reviews are amusing... swamped by BF3tards. The amusing thing being they criticise the cod community.

I suppose if Gears of War 3 metacritics around a 9, MW3 isn't really much different. Though at least Gears 3 fixed issues from the previous game, stupid ***like infinite respawns and piss-poor campaign plot remain. Granted, this is just from watching my friend play all night.

Most likely. Loving the multiplayer so far... you seem to move a little bit slower, but your motion is far more controlled. Flashbangs and Stuns now have the same throw/detonation times... and lots of other stuff. Could be epic.

I miss Rainbow 6... :/

I refrained from BF3 to save for this, and now I don't have time to even try it. Am sad :(

I've always preferred stealth-like tactics over run-n-gun/spray-n-pray. I rather spend 5 mins in the shadows sneaking around with a silenced weapon and finally taking out one enemy without anyone knowing where the shots came from(which is why I absolutely HATE killcams) opposed to running out in the open full-auto'ing anything that moves just to die 5 seconds later half the time.

For that reason I'll always think games like BF, Socom, Splinter Cell, etc. will always be better than CoD.


I wouldn't say "with fun in mind"; I'm pretty sure that's what all game developers aim for. It's more of an instant gratification. I'm not gunna lie, it's kickass when you get on those rolls of 30-0 K/D's, but it's funner to me to be tactical and work with my team.
In my opinion it has less to do with realism and more to do with just different play styles(as people have essentially already stated).

can't believe people are buying this game... MW3 is almost exactly like MW2, all they did was put the same stuff in MW2 in MW3 and changed the name of it.

Technically, COD was the record breaker. It ***on MOH at a time when MOH and Rainbow 6 were your only options. Rainbow 6 has always been really slow, so when COD came around with it's realism and attention to detail it swept the floor. To be honest, it's been COD vs BF for a very long time now - through WWII to present day. COD4 just came at the right time and was available in more or less the same fashion for PC and consoles whereas BF2 was only available for the PC.

Only on the surface. Mechanically it is a lot different (and so far seems superior); lots of balance changes and such. It's amazing.

I'm not surprised at all. While I'll rail the campaign all day (They suck, get over it), the multiplayer alone is competent at worst, and addictingly fun more often. The only sin is that they can charge 60bucks for a weapon and map update, and a few new features.

But if people are content to pay 60bucks for expansion packs, its their money, Madden, Fifa and all the other sports games do the same with annual roster updates for 60$. I'm more disappointed with critical media right now, giving it 9's and ***, when it's just the best example of average (8-8.5) at best. Rewarding safety is not how we advance the industry or the art.

I don't know dates, nor do I care to look them up, but the first BF I played was for ps2 (BF2: Modern Combat). I felt it far superior to any fps up to that point, for multiplayer. I actually don't remember even touching the campaign on that game. Been a while though, so who knows.

i may go to a friends house and try it but i am a Battlefield 3 fan now... everything in that game is just jaw dropping amazing :D

Not even on the surface. Anyone with eyes can see that the game's graphics, textures, lighting, UI, EVERYTHING looks completely different. It's just people don't have anything to hate on except for the fact that it's similar to MW2.

BF3 looks amazing but sooooo slow. Just not the game for me.

And MW3's campaign isn't half bad! Really picks up momentum towards the end.

And yeah, there are SO many mechanical changes if you are a good player.

Eg:

Stun Grenades now throw and explode at the same rate as Flashbangs.

If you don't grasp the significance of this, then...

The more obvious changes are the now large differential in movement speeds between guns and such.
