Was brought up, and it kinda makes sense.

(Shoot, Probably brought up here...)

While we're missing the Red armor, This new armor looks a lot like it may be Nation Related in some way.

Blue for Bastok, Looks like Light Armor.
Yellow/Green for Windurst, Looks mage-armor.

Leaves sandy for Heavy armor of course.

Relic Weapon +1

Nah, it's just talking about how they're revamping the Relic Armors.

IE: Going from worthless stats, to semi non so worthless, but probably still worthless stats. Then adding a plus one, to potentially fairly beast Relic Gear?

They did however state that they would be balancing weapons: IE - Relic/Mythic/Empyrean at level 99. However, whether or not that takes place during this December update or not will really depend on how far along they are on the progression.

I for one would assume that the End Game weaponry will be balanced/augmented as needed by then.

I hope that "The Last Stand" battlefield indicated is the completion of the Abyssea storyline. ("A Moonlight Requite" is the current last/un-completable mission, as mentioned here at the very bottom.)

With a level cap of 99 and a presumed easy access to Primeval Brews for participants, I can imagine the final battle in the mission series would be epically crazy, from a developer-standpoint. :p

sounds like the last stretch for FFXI...

I swear if someone could create a server with FFXI pre- ToAU or ***even pre -WotG I would play the hell out of it. I miss the old FFXI. This abyssea ***was fun while it lasted. FFXI used to have spark, mystery, and challenges. I remember being a noob talking to my buddies about a "dragon" that spawned once a day. I remember when you could do limbus with 3 but it had to be skilled players who excelled at their jobs. Now for the NEW content you put on some atma and spam.

Haven't been hearing that since CoP/Toau or anything.

Of course FFXI is dying, it's a 8+ year old game. Shocked it has lasted this long and we're still getting a decent amount of updates. I don't like thinking about how old the game is.. then it reminds me how long I've been here =x (and that is sad in itself)

There are games far older than XI that still get new content and even expansions on a regular basis.

Everquest sure is an old game, and they're still getting expansions.

Well IMHO, MMO's are kinda built around never ending goals... that's how games like FFXI/WoW keep their playerbase/attraction. It's just the foundation of them. Once you achieved the best of the best armor/status/whatever you may call it on other games outside of FFXI...there's always some new better crap out there. Then you do it all over again. It's a never-ending cycle.

I feel FFXI has been on it's last stretch for a while now. If the developer's didn't care so much about FFXIV (at first). I think we would have been seeing better and steadier updates. It's just more recent that we've been seeing it. I don't think abyssea killed the game nor TOAU, however I feel that the ability to grind endlessly inside of abyssea is what killed the game. For reasons stated above. I think it was the first time in FFXI that you were able to just sit there.. grind, grind, and more grind and never stop until you were done. I totally understand someone didn't quite enjoy sitting in line for sky gear for 8 months before having a shot at lotting rights, but for someone like me.. I cherish those beginner years of this game and that's what I felt was the greatest accomplishment/satifcation knowing you really put in HARD work (not this abyssea crap >.>) Don't get me wrong, I like abyssea still.. but I personally think SE over did it. Now most of the ppl I know are standing in Port Jeuno because they have nothing else better to do.... but hey that's totally off-topic =x (but since you brought it up...)

Nobody saw that armor and thought AU region? It screams of like a new Sipahi set or something... definitely near eastern I'd say. Doesn't look like anything Windurstian or Bastokan at all to me. Could be neo-nyzul armor or something.

People need to realize that before Abyssea, the game wasn't hard, it was merely time consuming. From a design standpoint, Abyssea solved a lot of the issues that had been holding FFXI down for several years. The only reason it took so long to do anything in sky wasn't because it was challenging, it was because some of the triggers had 6+ hour repops and there were multiple guilds camping them. Most people in sky shells afk'd just as much as people in Abyssea parties do now, because shell points systems demanded they be in attendance, but there wasn't always enough room in the alliance to fit them in. The single biggest flaw with item progression in old FFXI was that regardless of time spent, there was always a chance that you would never make progress with your character gear-wise, there were too many variables both in and out of game. Maybe the item you were looking for never dropped, or maybe it did, and shell rules screwed you out of lotting it. Abyssea fixes that problem.

Crimsontears said in their post that now several of the people they know just idle in Jeuno because they have nothing better to do, but that's something that has always happened. Years ago on my original character, I did the same thing because the only fights I needed were monsters that spawned once every 3-7 days. There was no other reason for me to log in.

The way I see it currently is that Abyssea is above all else a much needed (and very overdue) gear reset, to level the playing field so the development team can focus on developing content that requires abyssea-level gear. While voidwatch is still in need of some heavy re-tuning, it shows that the development team is now focused on providing content that is aimed for players with powerful equipment.

^
this!
/clap
100% agree

my dream now is the following : after the results of the survey, they will drop ps2 support, then they will release NEW AREAS designed for the level 99

without new areas (imho) there is'nt the need of lv.99, it will make no difference with lv.95 because you can do pretty everything also now, so liv.99 it will make sense only with new contents, yes, but not only battlefields, we want new areas!

something like: now you 99, now you rdy for the new contintent!

MHMM, That head is just a Recolored version of Aldo's headgear.

IDK if it strikes me as Aht Urghan, But since they're adding new areas to Limbus, It could be a Arch-Omega/Ultima type deal and those are the new Homam/Nashira sets so to speak.

I'm still leaning toward nation-related... But its entirely possible.

^ This. A lot. People act like waiting 24-72 hours for a mob to appear made the game "hard" and that by facing those mobs you were a great player. Now that gear is a bit easier to come by we can now judge players not by JUST their gear but by their skill with their job. I've known many players who have "not perfect" gear sets that would destroy "perfect" players in terms of how they play their job. No one gives a damn that you have capped cure potency if you can't juggle between cures, buffs, debuffs, hate management, etc...

Skill + Gear > Skill > Gear

Getting a good LS for the new events is gonna be my biggest problem. Seems like every shell ive been in lately has gotten the LS leader thier stuff and disbanded. My last shell was Oldspice With Newkid the LS leader. He got an Ukon and an Almace (witch was what i was maining) for his abyssea burned from lvl 30 Pld. Then he changed the lsmes to sorry guys im "busy with work atm"and he was on xbl evey night playing Halo. After a few weeks he came bk left his own LS to join anouther...and they are making him aegis.
