Am I the only one slightly weirded out at the concept of gear conditional attributes? It just seems strange that something would in essence not exist or in some form enhance what mechanics or abilities that already exist.
I can understand a piece of gear giving you a spell, but not some underlying formula that applies only when worn. It's just weird.
Though it would be nice if there was a native magic critical rate outside of gear.
I remember seeing "Magic Critical Hit Rate" and "Magic Evasion" for the first time on gear and everyone was like
I remember a certain someone who was convinced that her cures were affected by mcrit gear even after controlled tests demonstrated otherwise. Made my head hurt so bad.
You guys have sound reasoning and I can't fault that. It's the "I'm gonna do things wrong but pretend i know it's right" people that blow my mind. I'd even accept a full aurore/perle player as long as they'll say "i'm too lazy to do anything else".
The ones who pretend are the ones who can be taught. Beat them down with logic and sooner or later (usually later) they realize they are wrong and will improve. This I've seen many times before. It is the ones who don't care or are "too lazy" that will never improve. Give me the liar over the lazy any day.
I dunno, I'm a bit of the lazy type, but with me it's more of a time constraint issue. The lazy types can usually still perform pretty well, they just don't have the super elite uber endgame gears. They tend to work a little harder to compensate(unless they're hopelessly lazy).
In my experience, the "liar" talks a big game, and then when you actually get to the event, completely blows it and blames everyone else. They're typically the type who think they're good just because they have decent gear; they don't think about the whole "actually playing the game" part.

I have seen more than enough lazy people that will come to maybe 1 event a week and in sub par gear. Too lazy to better equip themselves, too cheap to get something better off the AH, etc.
Back in the day, when I was on Midgar, we had one of the "liars" in my LS. This guy would run his mouth off about how he was the best SAM of the server and was the "most requested" in the game. However, he came to events with nothing but a polearm, swearing that it did much better. After about a week of beating this dude down verbally, he had finally went and exchanged that polearm for a hagun. On the other hand, we had another member who would never gear swap because he didn't see a point to it. "I can't be bothered to buy more gear. It just takes up more space."
There will always be 1 or 2 people who are an exception to all of this debate in one way or another. I would just rather the liar because when caught in their lie or proven wrong by enough people, they will either change their ways or quit. Either way, the gimp will be gone. The lazy player will just always be there as an eyesore.

Yeah, good points. I agree there. Lazy is a much harder bad habit to break than just being wrong.

Heh that was the one I originally used, but then I saw the EgoRaptor one.
Anyways, one thing I'm super lazy and gimp about and always have been is reputation burning. I simply don't have it in me to buy a million cornettes and running them back and forth to Yoran Oran.
To much to read since I've been busy. >.< At least I'm willing to admit when I'm gimp. My WHM is intentionally gimp cause I don't want to put time into a job I don't particularly like or use much outside of ls events where I'm forced onto the job or for very small parties (like seal farming). At least now that my LS is actively doing Voidwatch, I can finally go about it on SMN freely so I've been playing catch up (still missing a few pieces)
But still at the end of the day, I don't feel like I'm a hindrance, just lacking advantages. Will it come to a point to where anyone not wielding an emp weapon will be considered gimp?

Bolded sounds like enough of a reason to gear it properly tbh. If my LS made me come a job that I didn't have geared properly, I'd make sure to fix that within a week. :x But whatever, I'm not going to guilt you into making a Surya's apparently even though it's great for SMN too.

If they need two WHMs instead of just one, or if people are dying, then it's a hindrance. I can't be the judge of that, I can just call you gimp for not having essentials.
I would say that if you don't have an relic/emp/WoE(if it's an upgrade) weapon for your #1 job and it happens to be a DD, you're gimp, and I wouldn't ever let you come that job to anything that mattered if I were your shell leader. Would I specifically call you gimp? Probably not, I know you need friends to get that(or take 6 months shouting in Jeuno lulz), and some people don't have friends. I still wouldn't touch your DD job with a 10ft pole though.
This was my "lazy" solution to whm without staff. In my defense I leveled it 49-90 after finishing this set and haven't touched it since.
edit: I was whm for the shantotto final fight, and doing the leg work for the warp II quest but srsly thats how little im ever on my "just leveling for the sake of leveling" jobs.

Good thing I made a Gambanteinn now nini will let me play <3 <3 <3

That set doesn't really look half as bad as I've seen some sets, and fairly decent for someone just done with getting exp. I've seen so much worse.
12 on body. I had a 14%/fresh that I tossed on accident after getting 12/fresh/4conserve mp. i thought the old one was in MH while i was rolling new ones.

I'd much rather have that or tefnut's wand instead of bother with a Surya staff. I am completely lazy towards doing trails to the point that I'm moving like a snail to finish my str and agi kila +2.... well +3 now.
Work a little bit on it everyday, and before you know it you'll be done.
Really isn't difficult to make an elemental staff trial.
If you did that everyday for 20-30 minutes it wouldn't take long. If your standing around doing nothing for 30 minutes you could be working on your staff.
I'm a full supporter for tefnut but don't blame your laziness on getting that over staff, because it isn't hard to make one >.>

Omg so mean D:
DDs can still be good even without Emps/Relics/Mythic. Mine is! Or at least that's what mommy says when she kisses me good night ;_;

Maybe, but I'm managing two characters now on different servers. I'm never in a position where I'm doing 'nothing' and getting bored... I do find myself at times not feeling like doing things that I know I should do when I log in though.
Never argued that it was better than Rajas. I argued that it wasn't as absolutely useless as people claim. Why are you trying to derail the thread by egging on a pointless argument anyway?
Maybe. I still wear my tamas ring to date to troll people I rubbed the wrong way in that argument and feel the need to stalk me. I do need to change to rajas cause I found a voidwatch ring I can use as a replacement.

I'm starting to realize how horribly over used this word has become on the official forums and here maybe. I could never get away with bring this to attention there.
Being gimp would imply that under equipped, and statistically inferior to an average character build. Basically under performing at generally every level. Or so I'd assume that. But apparently being 100% or even 110% capable in both skill and equipment instead of going at say 150% means you're gimp. I don't understand that.
I've heard this tossed around so many times. Don't have a rajas ring? Gimp. Not using a particular subjob. Gimp. Don't have trial staves? Gimp. It doesn't matter if well geared above the average player it seems. If you don't have or don't use or don't play like some of these people say you should, you're 'gimp' end of story.
It's like calling a person you disagree with a troll simply because you disagree with them and refuse to acknowledge they have a legitimate difference of opinion. Or being called a noob even though mistakes happen and some people do actually learn from them. It's pretty ridiculous now that it's tossed around so much. It's usually big words that people shouldn't use if they don't understand what they mean.... but for small ones like that... meh.
