as far as gp items i only started gp items at lvl 70 and at the rate i was skilling up i wanted ebisu ki to try for my rod before anything else. my plans are smock>wader>stall>emblem since i have the big one dont need hole map it seems according to wiki mega moghancement fishing skill page....

Edit: checked the page, and didnt know it was cut out lol i always just knew about apron+rings never got to see the snap rate til now... guess 10% hook rate for a lower snap rate is a decent pay off but they might just be the same ill try it next time i go fishing.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Hakuryu

I wrote these from scratch and has my own personal averages in the data. It should help you out on the debate between the two lures. Although disregarding my data, you can always find out what is the better lure by comparing what lure catches what:

Although great blue hasn't been updated since 2008 it serves it purpose here:

Minnow: http://www.great-blue.jp/?aid=047&bid=020&lng=en

Cone Calamary + Bluetail + Gigant Squid + Hakuryu

Sinking Minnow: http://www.great-blue.jp/?aid=047&bid=021&lng=en

Black Sole + Hakuryu

As you can see there is a clear advantage simply because of fish targeting. If you use the Noddy Ring and Puffin Ring together you'll have an even greater advantage because your raising the bite rate of large fish (Hakuryu) creating less chances for black sole. If you did that with minnow it would also increase the bite rate of giant squid (which is bad, unless you want to catch them o.o;...)

About GP items I personally did:

Waders > ebisu KI > Apron > Stall

Now I'm getting the 200k gp item, then I'll get the fish net then the map last.

Bah, got stuck at the bottom of the page. Quoting to move it here.

I would suggest doing GP in the order of value:

Ebisu KI -> Stall -> can stop unless you're bored -> apron/synergy it -> waders

use the new windower plugin :)

Info Page:
http://forums.windower.net/topic/20125-windower-plugins-find/

Download Page:
http://forums.windower.net/files/download/42-find/

once you put it in your plugins folder, edit your init file to auto load it, it will be ready to find your lost lures on the fly ~/o/

//find Shrimp Lure

//find Lure

It is case sensitive, so that is a small issue with it. Also if you want to type the command in the console instead of the chat log just remove the two // and you'll be fine.

Found some guy who's selling me them for 25k ea. Unfortunately my funds are running really low now.

And uhh, I'd just go get an easy page to do and do it on thf and bring theif tools for extra hints on gold chests. Have the page repeat, build up prowess buffs, and just grind for a long time.

Yea, it's not perfect but it's a whole lot easier than before.

Before meaning....

Hmmmm where is my fly lure...

Menu > view house > mog safe

scroll down........didn't see it

exit > storage

scroll down........didn't see it

exit > mog locker

scroll down........didn't see it

exit > mog satchel

scroll down........didn't see it

exit > mog sack

scroll down........didn't see it

/rage.... I know I have it!!!

/repeat...twice...

I'll just buy another one dangit :\

Tomorrow you find it in your satchel where you always put your lures...

That could take around 5 min to give up and then another 5 to go get one...

//find Fly Lure

takes 1-2 seconds

I would suggest not selling per fish when catching Ebusi fish. Ask for the entire money upfront and trade them all to the person, lest such a situation continues to occur.

Do nebimonites instead. They sell for a lot more and will cap you at 27.

When you kill monsters in the area, occasionally chests will appear. This does not require doing any GoV pages. However, GoV will offer you some exp while you are killing monsters as well as the opportunity to receive a boost to finding chests after killing monsters. So, you do not need to do pages and can kill low level mobs, while GoV may offer better performance in the long run.

I spent about 2 nights, around 2 hours at a time doing GoV. During that time I got my casket discovery prowess up to level 5. After that, I just slaughtered low level mobs to farm caskets. It took me around 3 or 4 nights of around 2 hours at a time before I finally opened a casket with a torque. So probably somewhere around 10-12 hours total.

When the Fisher's Torque was 1st released, I spent a full week and a half every evening after work (~7 hours per night) and that entire weekend doing GOV in Outer Horutoto Ruins. I never left the zone to keep my prowress from resetting.
Opened countless brown chests (easily in the hundreds).
Never Saw the Torque. /cry

How have others done trying for the Fisher's Torque?

I'm exactly where you are.

Four times I spent 7 days straight in that zone refusing to leave so I wouldn't loose prowess. I hate chests.

A low drop rate I can deal with. When you finally get it you get it unless someone is dumb and doesn't past whatever else is in the treasure pool and it falls to the floor.

With chests, you might get it. You might get it just once, or 25 times. You don't know what you have and when you fail on a chest you can't help but to think, "I bet that was the torque I just lost...".

I hate them. I'd rather deal with a 0.1% drop rate than deal with caskets. I'm serious, I'll take 0.1% drop rate any day over caskets.

I'm about to hit hour 4 of GoV today trying to boost my casket rate.

Seen 7 brown, was able to open 4 of them.

Out of 27 GoV completions today I've gotten 1 casket boost.. this is already wearing me out. Good news is my 2box whm almost has hexastrike.

Brown chest: Will usually give a 50% or 33% chance of entering the correct number to open it. However, I have a 95% of entering the wrong one :P.

Does anybody have confirmation the discernment +1 fishing belt drops from brown chests in the Maze of Shakhrami?
