If so, kindly *** yourselves with something hard and sand-papery. lulz, did you report Cossack's first post like you should have? If you didn't, you have no case, if you did, and nothing was done, there are better ways to voice your displeasure. PM to a mod could have saved that thread. Anyhow, at least I can rely on you to pull me back down to earth in a nice manner. I did say that I admired those who are students and do work, and that will not change. So, as far as Austar and Proth, more power to them, and I hope that their hard work will pay off for them in the future. Some of the arguments here remind me of the, "You don't have X job leveled you don't know how it works".

Thank you, it's just fairly demeaning and offensive when blanket statements like those are thrown out. I understand that plenty don't deserve to say anything about commitments etc., and if they don't then they're really only hurting themselves in the long run, as at some point in life they're gonna have to take care of themselves and won't have any idea how to. Funniest thing about this thread, the thread in question was unlocked/etc and nobody has bothered with it for 4 hours >,>
That being said, although I can agree with Elana that it is at times frustrating, modding is not a job. Therefore, although you take some responsibility with accepting the position, just about everything else important in your life should take priority. Therefore, I can definitely see deleting a thread because it is quickly going south if there were other things needing attention in your life. I think the mods do a pretty good job, all things considered. Phoenix.Sehachan said: » There should be warnings before a warning too. something along the lines of "I'm going to count to three, this thread had better be rainbows and ***by then! One...Two...Two and a half...Two and three quarters..." something like: lim mod→3 for all you math nerds :( Phoenix.Sehachan said: » There should be warnings before a warning too. I'd agree, but honestly giving people warnings before warnings is a lot more work for the mods. If we had more mods than what we have currently, I'd say this would be a good idea. However, they have much more productive things to do currently. I think more mods would be a good idea. But I don't think anyone wants to do it.
Doesn't giving somebody a warning about a warning kinda defeat the purpose of a warning :o ?
Ramuh.Sagittario said: » Doesn't giving somebody a warning about a warning kinda defeat the purpose of a warning :o ? Not if you warn em about it first. Ramuh.Sagittario said: » Doesn't giving somebody a warning about a warning kinda defeat the purpose of a warning :o ? Warnings I think are on your record permanently(and they use these to determine ban consequences), whereas a warning that you're going to receive a warning would not be. I like the concept of warning before a warning, but in practice it's not a viable option at this time. Also, perhaps when dealing with topic bans, warnings etc, it might be best to refrain from using abrasive language.
For example calling someone a ***, douche, etc and then topic banning them, doesnt set much of an example and how not to act. Actually, it was the thread that you created (and was subsequently locked while I was writing up a reply) that prompted me to create this thread. The North Carolina thread I created afterwards, and it has nothing to do with this thread (unless I missed something overnight today). You didn't miss anything. He prematurely got angry over something he should have been happy about.

It's my understanding (and I certainly don't have all the information at my disposal), that the Users who have received offers to become Moderators have declined. Also, among the Users who have expressed a willingness to take the role, the current Staff has been unable to arrive at a consensus. I don't know if that means the issue has been completely tabled for now, or not. |
