Did SE neft the line break rate on hakuryu? I'm buying 30minnows a night and only getting 50 haks out of those before all my line breaks. This has happened to me the last like 4 nights. I find it odd...I used to be getting 70~ with 20. Just seems like an unordinarily high break rate (like 60% now instead of 30).

Must just be back luck .-.?

50 haks from 30 minnows isnt a 60% break rate...its a 37.5% break rate... which is about in line with what I tend to get. I find it varies anywhere from 25-40%
Side note, I tend to use sinking minnows over minnows.

http://ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Hakuryu#Fishing

Did a lil testing way way back, haven't updated in months.

Also, sinking minnows are the best over time, at least during my testing. Just makes sense since there are less fish biting.

Also I think that sinking minnow snap rate is higher, but only like 2%. I would have to do thousands more to know ~1% and I just didn't keep up with recording it.

But I believe with the rings you have ~5% more hakuryu using sinking minnow vs just minnow

I see, I thought something was wrong. 37% still seems rather high though; must have been just lucky the past month.

I used to used sinking minnows too until every time I went to the boat to get some, I had to wait 15 more minutes or it was guild holiday or something..

running to upjeuno->wg fishing guy is just so much faster.

35 minnows usually lasts me 7ish hours give or take and I get anywhere from 50-70 hakuryu depending on luck,sometimes its just bad luck :x

Also, it would help if you turned that apron into a smock for the fishing skill hoho! :3

It's because you're using bots. SE has put new measures in to see the consistency of fishing and alternates the line break probability accordingly.

The more people talk about these fish the more chance se will nerf them some people just don't know when there onto a good thing and keep shut.

I doubt it. Wasn't there someone on official forums yammering about the hax of hakuryu? I'd be more worried about that stuff.

Has anyone here done much with Matsya? LS mate of mine was considering switching from Haks.
Personally I wouldnt think it's worth the effort of getting Dwarf Pugils, but I dont have any 1st hand experience

im an old timer when it comes to fishing (havent really fish since the mini game update) but why are these fish being fished up? to straight NPC for profit or is there another reason? seems pretty awkward to fish something hard in this nature to purely npc sell when u can do something like trumpet shells craft and npc sell (if u have bonecraft lv'd, i use to do this but stop long ago.)

shells are quicker and u get more well before the fishing day cap >.>;

but anywhoo. ty, thought there was another reason besides npc'n them guess not lmao...

edit: crafting 2 shells to make a ring sells for 3.5k so... 6shells is basically 10k npc'd and any HQ's u get u can pawn off to ah for 15-20k not to mention shells are hella easier to catch. dont have to buy up all the minnow lures >.>;

Who cares about hitting cap quicker. It's about how much you make for the time you put it.
an hour into hakryu's is going to be more than an hour in shells.

I use minnows because I always wind up going to buy the game day after altar and sinking minnows cost 2k each. :)

You're never going to make as much as you make on hakuryus by fishing up lolshells and crafting them.

dasva had a post about it, in a nutshell, it wasn't worth it because matsya like to break lines and lose your ex bait too x.x

dunno if its still in the fishing section of ffxiah or not; if you get banned, do all your posts get erased?

I usually buy 31~36 minnows and they last me for about 5~6 hours.
Normally I catch 58~70 but it depends on luck.
Sometimes I get a full inventory and sometimes I just break a shitload at a time.

Really based on luck. Just stack up fishing skill/furniture if that wasn't obvious.
