I love SCH but of course it's on hold atm until the level cap increase and we get some better spells,... -.-
(Cure V, Blizzard V, /rdm Haste)
But in the mean time (but also after the updates) this job forum seems a bit quiet and boring so I thought we could make a kind of SCH e-peen thread showing the fun things a military tactician can do.
I'll start:
Hailstorm and it had just turned Iceday with Sea Obi, Twilight Cape and Varuna's Staff +2.(MM,BM,Beyond)
And I've just noticed the (50%) SC damage did 105% damage, more than the closing nuke.
Not Iceday. Probably with a sea obi, yuck.
Crabs only have 5k hp^^

I have posted this a few times, but this was while doing my ice trial staff, so using a fully made varuna's staff +2 nowadays along with proper atmas we could probably expect a lot more:
Done with just hailstorm, ascetic's tonic, and klimaform. Was not ice day. Valmur was just there leeching on his nin for the lulz.
Imagine if I opened with Water V, and managed to use Ebullience on my final nuke :3
needless to say it does take timing though

I hadn't seen that screenshot before. Magic bursting Bliz4 on a self-SC of 2 nukes, that's impressive :o. Something I don't think I've managed yet.
It's sad it had no Ebullience, but I think the MB makes up for that^^

It's sad it had no Ebullience, but I think the MB makes up for that^^ Yeah, and the staff was incomplete, you could probably expect around 7k+ damage with a fully completed varuna's staff +2 and ebullience, not to mention added damage on the blizzard III and skillchain. I just didn't want to risk it at the time because I figured the blizzard III skillchain would've killed the bee, but it left it at 1%, so I paniced and just alacrity casted the ***as fast as i could.

It's oh so hard to get a good immanence epeen shot. Any mob that would put out good numbers probably doesn't have the hp to last through Water5>Bliz4 and would die long before you ever saw the induration let alone the magic burst.

Ok... A less 2 hour based stratagem recovery lol.
It would be nice to be able to do this twice in a row lol
It'd be cool to have a JA that put one stratagem as a permanent 2 hour buff or something (akin to solace or misery) but at a slightly nerfed power or something.

Sch is a fun job got it to 75 in ye olde days..but I just prefer BLM for the stuff I do... now excuse me I need to run before wolfshadow comes here and slit's my throat

Also yeah, sch is great for enhancing the abilities of others, but they're mostly useful outside abyssea in that people usually QQ for procs inside abyssea. I want there to be a means of doubling the potency of enspells, and also uncap them. I can get massive amounts of enhancing magic skill on sch, but since it caps at 21, even with firestorm they're doing like 24 max with them on, which although respectable for faster swingers like thf and nin, are lackluster for jobs most commonly used like war and...war. Adding 50 damage to each hit though would make for some very delicious damage over time for outside abyssea.

I've done it before on SCH80/85 using dots/nukes and Desert Boots, but,..
First Kaustra lasted 20 seconds. (It deaggroed)
Second Kaustra lasted 32 seconds. (Wore off due to it being dead)
58 second solo, I thought that was worthy of uploading :)
Ascetic's Gambir + MM/Beyond/Baying Moon + Ebullience
Staff; Dark Affinity: Damage+3

Great solo!
For future reference, though, if you want to kill it without the use of extraordinary measures, its fairly easy to just nuke it while its idle, let it retreat into its shell, walk ~30' away to cause an idle state again, at which point it will come back out. Repeat until dead. Usually takes ~3 minutes.

Not to be a killjoy, but this is 10x easier if you just nuke, let it do its shell thing while standing ~30' out of range, it goes idle, comes back out, repeat. Dies in ~3 minutes with no extraordinary measures.

In what way does nuke -> walk away -> nuke not apply to scholar? If anything, you may very well do a better job at it, as I generally stick a bio on it initially in case my poor timing causes an idle tick. You can stick a helix on it instead.

its nice for scholar's kaustra, but also has utility in blm's comet and soon to obtain meteor spells. (i am aware that this is a sch thread first and foremost, just highlighting its other uses.)
