I work at McDonalds and I love it. Fast paced environment, constantly doing something. And a great group of co-workers that make the days fly past. Plus it's 10.25/hr to start lol and 40+hrs/week can't complain.

Phoenix.Novaria said: Well...I'm a housewife and mother...I'm disabled so...working doesn't happen for me..i HAVE had jobs before but being a housewife and mother is by far the best job I've ever had...sure I don't make any money doing it and sure, we're a bit on the poor-ish side but it's worth it to always be able to be there when the kids need help with their homework, or help studying for a test or when some stupid punk says "I hope you die!" or some stupid girl says "eww, you're so not my type!"
My kids and my husband are my entire world...I was a mess before they came along and now I'm whole.
so yeah...I LOVE my job <3
(though I could definitely live without all of the cleaning and cooking >.> lol)
think the best part is when your kids grow up and you see how far they go because of how great their parents were. I thank my parents every so often because of what they put up with to raise me. Some people dont take it seriously and you know what? Someone suffers for that.
I'm no billionaire playboy/Bill Gates/Donald Trump; just someone with a level head and some sort of sense and a small overabuse from applying the socratic method to many, many things in life!
but in short, thank you

I work at the same place I worked for in high school. It's a family business, I started there because it was right next to my house and my parents refused to drive me anywhere. I've left 3 times, and come back. I've had other jobs at factories and restaurants, but have always come back.
When I first started there, we were a craft supply warehouse, now we sell imported and domestic "primitive gifts", both wholesale and retail. When I started there, I was a warehouse grunt. Now I'm in the office where I mostly do accounts payable, vender relations and customer service. I do some of the ordering too.
I used to be ashamed to tell people where I work, because it's a small family business and the pay isn't that great. But now, I'm proud to say I've watched and helped this business grow from less than 20 employees to nearly 100. I've watched our bottom line grow and I love it. It's rewarding to be a part of something like this.

Well I dunno, if you're a prostitute or a stripper or something you might wanna be selective with who you tell.. But if it's just a 'normal job' you shouldn't be ashamed..
-.- I hate when people ask me where I work and I have to say "I don't"... 'Oh, you're a student?' "No..." 'Just in between jobs at the moment?' "No, actually I haven't worked in quite awhile"..

i'm not trying to be insulting, but how do you live without a job? Wife works, has a good job and decent pay, we don't have our own home though, we pay like half the bills..
I've tried and tried and tried to get a job and I just can't.. Not even fast food wants me =/

I loved my Office Support Clerk position. I did data entry and filed. The filing room was my office away from my desk. My iPod was on and played whatever I wanted. If anyone wanted a file, they had to go through me, so I could play whatever I wanted at any given time, through the computer speakers. My desk had dual monitors and Netflix/Hulu was always on my unused screen, and I had headphones plugged in 24/7. We used a messenger service for everything, so I was IMing all day. I never had to sit still since I was always up and grabbing files.

What part of Mass? I could almost say word-for-word these exact same two posts except I quit the pizza job...
Job market sucks here, even with a college degree..
I wake up having nightmares that I'm working at Walmart... D:
Don't have much of a clue what to do though, I've been begging friends/family/neighbors to try and get me in at the places they work and even that's proving to be a dead end. Been out of college for over a year now.
If I still had the pizza job, I'd say that I liked it, because we got to eat whatever we wanted to and drink on the weekends when the boss wasn't around... still always came down to me to clean dishes, mop, vaccum, pretty much most of the actual work.. and no one ever shared tip money.

I deliver pizza. inb4 low-end job related trash talk.
Yes, I really do enjoy my job. (especially when it's not 100*F outside) I sometimes don't like the customers. However being able to work sort of at my own pace, while listening to music, having freedom to have something to drink or snack on at any time, getting tips based on how nice I am, thus putting me in a better mood, all make me very happy. Then, when I'm in the store I get to work with a whole harem of cute phone-girls, and hardly even have to do anything more mentally straining than washing dishes or taking out trash.
On top of this, I live with a roommate who works there too, and we're both financially stable and still have money to go out with friends.
@Rinnsi, my dad *** about it all the time too, and claims I should go to school and do something with computers all the time...

I love my job. I am a CET (control electrical tech) at the power plant by my house. it is always something new and the days are busy and go by fast and i can easily make over 100k /year unless i turn down all the overtime i am offered which i don't. someday when i have things paid off and older i won't want/need to work so much but it is nice to do now while i am young to do it. 13 years in the IBEW as an electrician gave me the tools to get the job so now i am a member of the IBEW and UWUA.

Lot of interesting jobs from everyone so far.
I think my "dream" job would be to work for an internet, tech, or multimedia company - such as Twitter, Google, Adobe, or even Nvidia -as a marketing coordinator assistant or something with advertising.
Would love to have something that fuses creativity and design with business. Monotony is not my flavor; I need something that is always changing. Being part of a team working on a big or complex project is where I do best. Something where I can use Photoshop or do a little web design/development/modification would also add some icing to the cake.
I wonder how hard it would be to find entry level positions at some of those companies...I'll relocate anywhere in the world :) Well, almost anywhere.
Anyone work for a tech or internet-related company?

My dream job has always been working with a company that brings visual and interactive media to people. Mainly Bungie with games obviously. It has been and will stay a dream because of all the negatives of working in the game design industry.

There are downsides to every career though. Just have to accept the bad with the good in everything. As long as you can find an equilibrium that brings satisfaction, it's worth it. (I'm a glass half-full person)

I work 7.5 hours a day. Some times take naps at work and get paid 8h. working for 3 years at the same place. I make $36/hour.
I would say you work EMS or for the Fire Dept, but I don't know of many places that do 8 hour shifts.
Same story, but I get 5 days off every week (24/48s FTW)
Network admin for 7 hospitals. Where there is almost no issue because I've setup the network correctly. Lot of automation. Really I'm there for when the server crash. Which the Terminal server and one of the domain controls did in the 3 years I have been doing the job at different times.

I stack shelves...Hate my job. Hate the hours, Hate most of my co-workers. I get paid 2-2.5x what all my friends make an hour in their jobs so i'll live. :P I need the money for the coming university term because I don't like relying on my parents too much. Luckily I worked out that I can afford to take a week or two off before the start of term. :)

I'm going to school to be a Paramedic so, two more years and i'll be outta the cookin biz forever

I'm a baker and I love it...
Even nights like last night where it was hot enough to melt butter by leaving it out (thats not even an exageration XD) I still get a kick out of it.

Just curious to see what people actually do for a living out there. Most people hate their jobs, but I want to hear from the people who love what they do. Could even throw in how you got to that point if you want (education, certifications, experience, etc).
What do I do?
Radio technician. I work on large-scale radio systems such as statewide networks for 800MHz-band communications. I also install radios in police cars, fire engines, ambulances, EMA vehicles, and even farm machinery.
Experience/degrees:
Military - Land Mobile Radio Journeyman (2E153) - Six years
Private Small Business - Radio Technician - Two years
A.A.S., Electronics Systems Technology
B.S., Business Admin (not currently used for anything lol)
I like my job, but there is a lot of overtime and you often have to work outside in the snow/rain/heat/etc. Lots of manual labor. Upside - lots of job freedom and lots of travel time. Easy to take days off. Not a job for anyone afraid of heights - lots of ladder use and climbing radio towers (yikes...).
