RDM - Almace DEX Set

Welcome to FFXI.... or just MMOs in general.

This is the set I use currently cause I don't want to do MKD again and it seems to work well for me all in all. Jupiters has +att augment

Almace/Mandau RDM looks pretty hawt

I won't lie, it is fun. Just wish Dagger kept some of the stats off hand. Still really good combo though, think nightfyre did the math on it and on paper the only other weapon to come close was the new Onerios Knife cause of the 10% crit dmg on it.


Still working on my TP set though, just need tiara and dusk +1 to have capped haste. Being as Rdm isn't my main the gearing has taken a back seat to blu or thf hence no +1 dusk yet.

Doesnt really help right now but at some point RDM should get the spell Gain-Dex. Depending on your enhancing magic skill you could get a big boost.

Well the new neck piece for CDC is Rancor collar if you can get your hands on one. +5% critical hit rate, can't beat that on rdm. Rdm will have issues capping accuracy and attack, inside or out rager ledelson's have parsed higher then lithe, unless for some crazy reason you use double str atma... or if you use red curry bun and the atk drink with VV then the lithe will slightly outway the rager's... I have 800+ atk in my tp set with RCB and atk drink, 650-700 atk without drink, inside abyssea. Outside you benifit more from the RCB and luckily the crappy gear we have access to has, dex and acc, or, atk + acc.

As far as gloves go for the WS, Tara +1 and rager will give you acc+10, atk+24, If you're going for straight atk. For depending on how you cap atk, though Warlocks gloves+1 + rager's = +6dex, acc+10, and atk+12, while tara+1 +lith = +6agi(worthless for cdc), +6dex, +12 atk. Factor in Rdm's meh sword skill, warlock gloves +1 +rager's beat's lithe + tara+1.

Are you accounting for Dia? You probably don't need as much attack as you think. Although I do agree Rdm will be having trouble capping attack.

i been looking at RDM builds, not tested any, dont have any, will never have any, but there is what i come up with



the reason why the head piece is mainly for the ACC can go with moogle expanssion hat or even maat's cap, but RDM lacks in ACC abit as it is

and the reason for shield is coz i am just used to PLD

RDM can't use centaurus. Replace that with Aesir/Suppa. Rancor collar for sure, and probably cuchulain's belt.

i tried cuchulain's belt on PLD and it was less effective than snow belt overall so sold cuchulain's belt, also i wont get rancor collar as i have reset my tonbery hate and keep it clear as much as possible

Tarasque + 1 is pretty much equal to those Mittens.

I am not very well versed in WS damage and knowing what is best, but is Pure DEX set macro'd in for CDC best? or is there something better? I am looking for a CDC Macro set and a TP set.

Tumbler trunks and atheling mantle would be better I believe.

Would those be better for WS macro? So +ATT is better than +DEX?

+20 Atack +3 DA is better in the back slot for TP or WS, yes.

Maat's > Gnadbods / MKD hat
Snow > Rancor
Suppa > Aesir or Dex 3/4 earring (unless having accuracy issues)

Depending on inside/outside/dDEX Assault Jerkin, Tarasque+1 and Rager Ledelsens are an option.

This would be good for WS (not TPing)?
I will try to come up with a TP set next, but for now just want a base WS Macro set.

Needs more Rancor Collar. STR Shamshir > DEX if you're not having accuracy issues.

probably having accuracy issues on rdm outside of EP trial mobs

He shouldn't on fodder crap (inside) but basically yeah.

I prefer the DEX/ACC offhand. I do have some ACC issues as RDM/NIN or RDM/DNC Tarutaru. STR/ATT shamshir looks nice and all, but doing the DEX one first, then STR.

Those hands desperately need to be replaced unless I'm missing something :x

I used Alcide's Mittens +1 and Ocelot Gloves when I played though they also look pretty good.

Atheling is a substantial upgrade as well.

What off hand weapon type is that? Da? 2-4? I'm not sure if the same holds true for rdm as it does for blu but I've always thought that the khanda's high delay and low damage just killed your dot. STR shamshir would be better for damage but for rdm would it be better to use a dex/acc shamshir? Or if you happen to have a sagasinger? I'd like to gear my rdm's melee build better, even if I never use rdm...

Casual hypothesizing, but I'd imagine DA and STR magian swords being the only real contenders. Between those two, I'd assume STR would win, but someone else would need to make that call definitively.
