Let's talk Starcraft.
Rushing is a valid tactic but it's pretty lame to cheese every game. The skill lies in the macro game.
Rushing makes all RTS games completely unattractive to me.

Other than outright hacking in some way all is fair in love and war as they say. I don't like rushes. There's very little skill required 90% of the time.
The skill is in being able to detect and prevent them. The nice thing is if they all-in you it's a quick game for you if you prevent it.
my us account is Lasareth and my character code is 505, if anyone wants to add. Keep in mind i suck though. I play NotD, SotIS, and SB. Custom maps are what makes SC2 fun.
I have no idea what those acronyms are. I do enjoy custom maps though. I'm a big fan of TD games.
Night of the Dead, Storm of the Imperial Sanctum, and Star Battle.
If I have to mine resources I know I will lose so I play the games that don't need that. EDIT:Oh yeah, forget this. I've asked people to add me before and I never got notification if they did or not. Do I have to ask for their IDs and add them as well or am I supposed to get a request on the client? It's so confuzzling.

However, I try to limit that since it shows RL name. That explains so much lol, thanks.

I find rushes okay, it's the one base all-ins that are annoying. Easy wins in most cases, but very powerful (especially in Terran's case which has like 3+ different ones and the Terran bioball in particular is stupidly strong early on). Pressure/rushing without going all-in etc I think is skilful though, if you do it properly. Bahamut.Raenryong said: Ramuh.Krizz said: I don't like rushes. 278 Sorry :( dumb of meee. NP :) Updated in the second post.
That was fun. Svedin kicked my *** in the first game, but then I surprised him in the second by going random and getting zerg (the race I wanted). Banelings <3 (He still won, but I got a good wtf out of him and saw some explosions)
Ramuh.Krizz said: I don't like rushes. There's very little skill required 90% of the time. Rushes balance the entire game in just about every RTS. Plus if there was no threat early game it would be boring :) I added a battle.net field to http://www.ffxiah.com/account/social
Okay, and just to inspire some conversation here. Protoss general use: Colossus vs High Templar. I have my own opinions about them but they change a lot; wondering if anyone has any opinions on them?
They both fulfill the same role: AoE damage. They both counter the same kinds of units on the whole etc. Bahamut.Raenryong said: Okay, and just to inspire some conversation here. As for their aoe damage A good combination of high templar mixed with some fodder (zealots) or other units is better than just mass templar for psionic storm. I would assume on a 1v1 scenario, a few high templar with a colossus or two wouldn't be bad for offense or defense if you can get that far into the game. For team based games. mass colossus with air support is cheap >_> Don't forget colossus aoe stacks (technically) and psi storms don't.
Colossus are just so vulnerable they need tons of backup vs both land and air threats. Cerberus.Lasareth said: Don't forget colossus aoe stacks (technically) and psi storms don't. volkom said: colussus are good against large squishy forces like a ton of marines or hydralisk. For team based games. mass colossus with air support is cheap >_> Well, I should specify that I meant some indepth analysis :p Colossus and High Templar attack the same units. Low HP units just get destroyed by their AoEs. The difference is that Templar delivers more damage periodically and Colossi deal consistently lower damage. Colossus path and cost is far more expensive along with build times, plus no warp in... however, Colossi are good to go the second they appear. No Psi Storms for Templars until awhile in. Colossi are easier to kill for air and harder to kill for ground. High Templars are very slow whereas Colossi are average, with cliffwalking - Colossi on the whole are just more manoeuvrable. Colossi rely more on upgrades (HT only benefits from 2/3) and since Archons don't benefit much from Attack upgrades, if you go Archon/Zealot/HT you can almost neglect the Defence upgrades, which is handy if conserving gas in particular (and not using a 2nd Forge). Notably, Ghosts and Infestors are terrifying if you're using Colossi but not so scary if using HTs. Overall, I lean toward HTs at the moment but Colossi are more widely used. I wonder? I think colossi are more widely used under team games because you can fast tech to colossi without any real researching unlike high templar where you got to research additional energy and psionic storm ability. Also if you have a teammate thats going to cover the air, colossi pretty much destroy all ground units except for mass thors/immortals, etc. Its probably because of their range and constant damage they can do vs the high templar.
Cuz once the templar use their energy up...got to wait a while which could be the downfall of a base b/c of badly placed storm locations? |
