I had a friend who did that simply because he was annoyed at being wrong in the argument, so he kept arguing in circles and hanging on semantics.

Best way to feel like you've somewhat won an argument against a woman is to at least make it seem like you're both at fault so she realized she did do something wrong (if she really did.)
