Assuming Razed Ruins takes up one slot, due to Almace.

I'd default to Voracious Violet for spell damage.

I'm assuming for melee damage: Apocalypse
MP conservation: Minikin
Almace damage (for those times when I want to spike my WS damage): ?

Edit: Taking everything you said into account, I assume Gnarled Horn. What about Sanguine Scythe? Or Savior..?

It's a great choice even without Almace honestly. Very powerful atma.

Pretty much. Sanguine Scythe is pretty bad, especially since it's devalued on WS due to Loki's Kaftan. I don't have Savior. It's a nice hybrid option, especially when tanking, but I don't see myself going out of my way to get it since we're going to start seeing non-Abyssea content again in a few weeks.

I currently TP in Mavi Scarf even tho I have Fortitude Torque. I feel that since accuracy isn't a problem I'll sacrifice 3 sword skill for 4 blue skill for my head butts. I cast Benthic Typhoon in Arctier's Torque and mostly Chain Affinity/Efflux in Kubira Beads (for lack of a better piece).

hmm hypothetically you would only need ~102 D to cap any physical spell (assuming the 15 levels*6 skill = 90 blue magic over current skill cap rule still applies.)

As you would have I think 91D just by breaking 400 skill and fStr caps at 22, this would make wsc completely irrelevant as you would likely already be capping as soon as you hit cruor buffs & say VV. This has me vexed.

Final D value =floor(D+fSTR+WSC) * Multiplier
But this surely implies assuming an fSTR of 11+ and a multiplier over 1 would render all stats barring accuracy completely irrelevant. While Blue magic skill would at least give some amount of "Blue Magic Attack".

I have probably missed something obvious /sigh

So in terms of necklaces:

for TPing (on most targets):

Fortitude Torque/Tiercel Necklace <- Orochi Nodowa <- Mavi Scarf <- Chivalrous Chain <- Ziel Charm <- Peacock Charm

And it's my personal belief that regardless of the DD job, RR should be given a slot off top, empyrean weapon or not.

lol, forgot Arctier's in my neck list. Especially nice for CA Benthic which is important for Almace, though closing with Goblin Rush also has its place for multi-step skillchains.

That's why you swap Mavi in for Head Butt and swap it back out for Fortitude Torque. I use Mavi exclusively for Head Butt and debuffs like Dream Flower.

Best neck piece for what purpose?

Erm well i aint a great BLU for lvl 90 but he wanted the blue magic skill off it and wawas gonna build tp in it lol..

Any ideas for either situations?
almost anything would be better, throwing small amounts of otherwise useful stats does not a great neckpiece make
What you did there, I see.

Just Vanity Dive from the list of powerful physical spells at the moment I think (and that one doesn't even make it to my list anymore)?

Disservment still uses that mod and it is still a powerful spell. Goblin rush uses that mod, there are still good bit of spells that do.

So can kubira beads still be a decent choice?

Hmm, you're absolutely right there; unsure how I overlooked those two. Ire Torque +1 is now go so all is well but regardless.

Also, am I mad or is Loki's Kaftan > Magus Jubbah NQ for Benthic Typhoon when not under Efflux?

tl;dr part:

412 skill => 45SkillDamage => 93D => 138EffluxD
397 skill => 43SkillDamage => 89D => 132EffluxD

thus bluemagicskill+15 is +4D normal and +6D under efflux

AGI+11 is either +5D or +6D depending
3STR is 75% chance of +1D and 25% chance of +0D, and caps

EDIT: yes, Kubira will outdo 5STR given a DEX mod.

About a third the way down the page is a table stating D cap for spells, followed by:
"The D cap seems to be capped at 14~15 level after the skill can be used.
Since Jet Stream can be used at Lv38, the D is capped at Lv53 with Blue Magic skill 164~168."

From this, and assuming a combat skill increase of 6 per level (this bit will almost certainly vary) I made the assumption the D cap for current physical spells would be around 102, probably a bit higher.
However I am probably misinterpreting the equation, is this the D cap gained purely from skill rather than the final D value?

ie. is it

102 cap = floor(D(from skill)+fSTR+WSC) * Multiplier
or
Final D (no cap) = floor(102 cap+fSTR+WSC) * Multiplier

:S I am probably not making sense

D is just the Blue Magic Skill contribution, not the final base damage.

^, also spells 60+ appear to have uncapped D iirc. I know the spells that should have capped on the way to 80 did not do so, not sure if that's changed.

The only use i really found for Scarf was hitting 400 skill for Occultation for all 8 shadows. Mavi +2 legs, 8/8 Blue magic skill, and Mavi Scarf puts you at 401.

I just have my spellcast setup to use loki regardless since the vast majority of my casts of it are with CA and all the ones that get efflux have CA on them too

I'm a little new to BLU, so forgive me if this obvious, but how do I calculate how much BLU skill I need to get to the next damage tier? (I can't seem to find it on Wiki anywhere)
