I see a lot of posts about using whirl of rage, but what do you think I need to do in order for it to not miss the mobs?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that you're not swapping into a sword for whirl. Physical spells determine their accuracy based on the accuracy of the weapon you're using. If you don't swap out of the staff (which BLU has no native skill in) you just used for charged whisker, then your accuracy will be next to nothing.

You hit the nail on the head. Wasn't aware of that!

Thanks for the quick responses.

Well, tried again over lunch... much, much better.

I went to Uleg.Range to the spectators. I started with Whirl of Rage (with sword equipped, lol) for just under 2k per mob. Followed with sleep, then Charged Whisker for 4.5k each, which was enough to finish them off.

This is also a good method for doing sword trials if you reverse the order: whisker > whirl

Great idea, thanks.

Along those lines, if I finish with Whisker and I get Azure light, would I get a different light by finished with Whirl (Physical)? Or are they both considered magic kills?

Physical blue spells still give Azure light if you kill the mob with one.

All blue magic is azure light but you'll only get light from claimed mobs when they die. So aoe is not an effective means for farming lights. You can get them low and pick them off with single target spells though.

Is Barrier Tusk not worth setting if you're /rdm?

Phalanx will mitigate more damage when cleaving given that the mobs aren't hitting very hard, so definitely not. It's highly situational even when it does mitigate a decent amount of damage though tbh.

Then, when I tried to follow up with Whirl of Rage to finish the mobs off, it very often would miss over half of the mobs.
How did this post get honest, straight up advice instead of massive face palms? Is abyssea burning jobs so prevalent now that everyone just accepts that no-one knows a *** thing about their job?

Ive been reading up on these topics ever since ive heard of Blue mage burning.
I just want to get tips on my set. In abyss Altep vs. The spectator things. I do about 6k (5800) but it ranges
My gear setup (since idk how to post pics of it ><) is,
Teal Head, ( I know i can do better w/ Aias)
Loki's Body, Warwolf Belt, Nifty Mantle, Jupiter's ring, Thundersoul Ring, Hecate's and Moldy earring, and Jupiter staff, Spear strap and Thunder satchet and artemis medal. w/ +2 hands feet and legs.
I use the regular Ultimate B-Horn and Lion but ive still seen ppl do more than me on my server, any tips?

Minor upgrades only really, nothing that would cause a major increase in damage. Aias, Cuchulain's belt, Romanus cape, a second thundersoul; shifting necklace is better than artemis if artemis is under 6MAB. Everything else is pretty spot on.

Curious as to what the optimal BLU CW set would be now. And had a question, when does MAB outweigh DEX gear?

Here is my current set:
Now would a Thundersoul/Jupiter's ring do better than the MAB+2 on my Demon's Ring? Don't really worry about INT gear because I generally use Lion/Blinding Horn/MM.

The OP lists every set you'll ever need for whisker burning. The DEX+INT set is not optimal but far above adequate for its intended purpose. 2DEX = 1.5MAB or so under BA with +2 boots, 2x Thundersoul is the optimal ring configuration.

Edited the OP to add a little bit of new information (mainly split the burn method into two parts), correct some stupid grammatical mistakes, and added some basic formatting to make it easier to read. This should be the final version of the guide.

This is my current In-Progress CW Build.

Obvious upgrades I know I need:

+2 the feet
Toci's Harness
Hecate's Earring

Thundersoul Ring (?)

Any other suggestions?

A DEX or INT sachet Mavi offers no damage increase, only macc.

Moepapa Medal or Stoicheion Medal

If you are going to get 2 7DEX rings then, that would be best but 7int rings aren't bad either.

Artful Belt +1

Oh and +1 hat but I know that's a bit pricey.

Cool, Thanks Sekundes ;)

Also, I have Blinding Horn but not Lion. So I was thinking it'd be best to do:

BH, Razed Ruins (for the +dex?) and Ultimate.

I also have access to Baying Moon and Beyond. Should I switch out RR for one of these?

Planning on burning Chigoes later today to finish sword trial 1208 (fire day/weather, 200 vermin) and want to get my stuff straight before I waste more time >.>

edit: Realized the Atmas section in the first post had a RR portion, but still wondering if RR is BETTER than The Mag Atk Bns atmas or just a fall back if you don't have the others.

Well, I went with Blinding Horn, Razed Ruin, and Ultimate.

Must say the result was just fine :)

Was able to slay 200 Chigoes from about 2:00-16:00 on Firesday with the set below:

Still need to update those few pieces but Whirl of Rage + CW easily killed all the chigoes each time. I think a single chigoe survived maybe 1 out of 3 pulls, but with 2-6% life only.

Lion instead RR and one shot them w/ CW.

Not too shabby Krylon,
I can see immediate improvements with your necklace and belt. But them Chigoes are easily killable so im glad you were able to finish that trial.

Its been awhile since I last posted my CW set, so here it is. I picked up on burning again recently, helping ls level their lowbie jobs.

When available, I use Thunderbolt + CW which gives really good results.
