Choose Your Own Adventure

So I've kinda wanted to write some stories every once in awhile. I get random urges to put something together, but I also wanted a way to get some feedback with writing just to try it out. I'm not sure when or how often I update this, it depends if there are people interested. It won't be like the choose your own adventures everyone probably remembers reading. After each entry I'll try to give the readers a choice and there can be a vote to determine where the story goes from there. So here's the first part I came up with.

A soft warm breeze travels through Port San D’Oria this early evening. Adventurers and residents alike are bustling about. Children running up and down the docks all the while their parents scold them from afar. The airship crew is in the tavern tossing back as much ale and gin, as long as their suspenders can allow it. Although the airships of Vana’diel may be on strike, such events do not cease the workers spirits.

Two fishermen wasting away their days here. The same dock, at the same time, everyday for the past 15 years. Neither one very good for the time they put in. Perhaps no more than a few moat carp a day. For as much time as they spent fishing, they didn’t have as great of tales as you’d think a fisherman should. But all that was about to change on this normal, yet fateful evening.

(Joulet): Back again I see, you haven’t keeled over from a heart attack yet?
(Gallijaux): I told you time and time again, you be floppin’ around like a fish before me!

The two fishermen give a hearty chuckle to each other and cast their lines. They begin to shoot the breeze.

(Joulet): You know, have you ever thought about going somewhere else to fish? It seems the carp here are getting smaller and smaller by the day.
(Gallijaux): I saw a poster sayin’ Jugner Forest be havin’ some special kinds o’ fish. Wanna start headin’ down there?
(Joulet): Well, it does seem to be getting a bit late this evening, perhaps in the morn.
(Gallijaux) We best be getting’ ta bed soon don’tcha reckon? All them good fishies be gone by tha time we get there!
(Joulet): I do suppose you’re right. Alright, one last cast… Blast! I seem to got the line snagged on something. Give me a hand here will ya?

The men tug as hard as they can, trying not to break the line. They jump off the dock and on a landing for a better angle.

(Joulet): Keep… pulling. It’s almost… here…
(Gallijaux) I am bout to jump in and take wrestle that fish to the…
(Joulet): Oh. My. Jaerik… Is that a…? THAT’S NOT A FISH! Help me pull it up!

A cold soaking wet body of a man lay next to the fishermen. The man’s clothes weren’t from around these parts. Everything about this figure seemed foreign. This male Hume, short (although everything is short to an Elvaan), glistening blonde hair, and a sword sheathed in this belt. The fishermen checked for vital signs. His heart was beating but just barely. There wasn’t much time left.

(Joulet): I’m no doctor but it looks like he has about 5 minutes left before he’s gone. Whoever did this to him didn’t want him to homepoint.
(Gallijaux): What would you do without me?

Gallijaux starts casting Raise on Male Hume.

used to like reading these types of books as a kid.

I'm pretty sure I still have one that involves finding a wallet with a bunch of money in it.

I lol'd at this, but I always have my mind in the gutter..

Just don't quit, I started writing a book when I was much, much younger.. It was more like my personal monologues disguised by unfamiliar names, and some events I added in, and some I took out.

I wish I had continued writing it and didn't burn it.. I was like 100 pages or more in when I just trashed it one night.. It would of been pretty cool to hand that down to my son when he was old enough to read it and understand what it means.. He's going to no doubt have questions about why I am the way I am, stuff not easily conveyed on the asking..

Maybe some day soon I'll start over, but not disguise everything, tell my story, as it happened.

I approve of this story 100%.

I'm not at all interested in becoming famous, see I'm a pessimist, but it allows me to actaully see the other side of things, that others who are star struck don't.. Hounded by people I don't even know, people just trying to get pics of me leaving my house, or scrutinizing what I chose to wear that way and how damning my outfit is..

Anyways, don't stop writing.. It takes nothing to give up, it takes courage and heart to continue.
