Well you've run in to at least four(of the same Pokemon) if you played them all, not that it actually means crap.
Poke'Radar is available in XY from what I read, so you can always go chain for a Pokemon you want. Never had the patience for that myself, but it's an option. I might try it if I get it before I arrive in whatever area that Ghost/Grass Root pokemon is in. Shiny form is pretty great.
Never actually ran in to a shiny I've wanted. Two Geodudes, a Roselia(that I killed) and Eggsecute or whatever(In Safari zone so was a lot of luck).
I named my shiny Geodude Goldude so now I can never evolve him...
Hasty with crap IV's anyways though.

I have found 3 shiny pokemon ever:
Original Gold : Caterpie within the first 2 hours of playing the game. Kept it the entire game.
Soul Silver : Tentacruel that I also kept, replaced it to be my surf *** (which I had a starter for -.-)
Black : Sandile, just kept it in DB and forgot about it (I breeded my 6 pokemon I was using that run and didn't want to replace any of them lol)
Never got any shinies that were powerhouses though -.-
Although, if I find a shiny now, I would probably replace it with the weakest member of my team, regardless of type (my team is horribly weak against ground now though ; ;)

Errr .... well that would liven it up a bit but I was hoping for an easier way to get good IVs lol. Least this time they put the longest stretch of straight road out in front of it so you can just go back and forth on your bike.
IIRC, they have placed the longest strip by it since Ruby/Sapphire, or even in gold/silver (?)

Do yourselves a huuuuuuuuuuuge favor and catch a pokemon with the Flame Body ability it halves the steps needed to hatch eggs. Litwick who you can catch in the Lost Hotel first ability is Flame Body so it's an easy catch. Just need to have it in your party for it to work. I usually just have him and 5 eggs at a time then when they hatch I check it's nature then release them or wonder trade them.

the bonuses from max affection are pretty op. sad part is i get stuck playing the freakin mini-games for hours... everyone's like oyea i beat it sunday night and im just headbutting yarnballs
