Mega Lucario kinda disappoints me for not the game itself but it will most likely take the 2nd Pokemon slot in Smash Bros. 4
You failed to mention that these Mega evolutions are only triggered in battle by having the proper stone per Pokemon. Each individual "Mega Formed" Pokemon has it's own individual stone not just a Mega Stone for whichever Pokemon can Mega evolve.
Also there will be a Torchic give away October 12 that will be holding it's type of Mega Stone so basically everyone will have Mega Blaziken by the Elite Four lol

The fact that they can only evolve during battle concerns me slightly... Does that mean a certain move will trigger the evolution? Or do they automatically evolve during battle when they're sent out?

MegaMawile is going to be monstrous, but maybe slowish. Even without an attack boost, Huge Power will still increase its base attack stat to 150. Equal to Rayquaza. Fairy/Steel has some nice defensive potential too.
It might not be fast, but there's a reason Scizor is still considered awesome, even with a meh speed. Depends on the defenses they give it, could be an awesome pokemon with an awesome typing.
Was hoping Absol would get an upgrade as well. Absol was pretty awesome, even moreso once it got Super luck and so many critical hit moves.

Scizor has Technician (and STAB Bonus) to make Bullet Punch viable which makes up for it's Speed. Mawile has Sucker Punch, but anything faster with Substitute will ***on it.
Absol looks like a boss. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Ampharos looks silly but it did pick up a Dragon Typing. And Mold Breaker let's it hit Volt Absorbers.

Absol was another one that got the short end of the stick with it's stats, hoping it's improved.
FabioAmpharos does look awesome with it's typing, hoping it's movepool is a little more open than it previously was. My money is it learns Outrage or Dragon Claw instead of Dragon Pulse. /sad
Can't wait for Mega Blissey and Mega Farfetch'd.

During the Pokémon Game Show, it was announced that a brand new anime will run to coincide with Pokémon XY. This anime is called Pokémon: The Origin, featured Red & Green, and is to run from October 2nd. We don't know if it's a series or a special at this time. (Post from Serebii.net)
