There are alot of advantages to liquid metal cooling though. 1 it's much better than water for a fast reactor which means we can use unenriched uranium. Or depleted uranium. Higher boiling points mean you can have pressure much lower while maitaining higher operating temps. Less corrosive better heat transfer etc.

Actually all the gen IV designs look pretty radical and awesome... might have to read up more on them lol. 1000C operating temp ftw?

OK Now I remember in our science class, You can even ask Lilkimberly on here as we both attended the same High School. We had a chemistry teacher set up a small little experiment, and there was a old bottle of Potassium near the sink( at the time there must have been some water in the sink from a previous class usage)
anyhow... thankfully no one was injured, but the flash from the explosion was contained up front of the class, but the ppl in front row got a good "flashy" show...

Oh it is worse since we can actually detect neutrinos and despite our best attempts have yet to get a confirmed results
