As far as cartoons, there was Garfield, Transformers, GI Joe, TMNT, and so on. My little pony was definitely not on that list. Offline

Hmmm, in reference to watching cartoons from growing up, I think I may watch some G Gundam. That stuff was fantastic as a teenage boy.

Oh! I take it back, I did watch cartoons.. I made an exception for TMNT, I was obsessed with it.
i had a friend who was obsessed with spongebob
Yeah the original TMNT was the best.
Truly mature children (such as myself) watched only mature shows in their youth. I scoffed at the shenanigans of other children, I knew only I had the finest taste.

No, My little pony was definitely not on my list as a kid, I just meant the style of the writing and story. It actually has a logical storyline progression and stuff, as opposed to so many cartoons now which are just nonsensical ***. For instance, I never liked things like Ren and Stimpy for that same reason.

The voice acting is good. The animation, and especially the facial expressions, are exceptional. The pacing/story development rivals any show I've watched recently. What. The. ***. Am I enjoying this? No, really? Damn it all to hell. I need a drink. I thought my sister would like it, so I sent her a link earlier today. She replied, along the lines of: "Where did you find this? Also, why in the hell did you even look for it in the first place? Are you gay? It's ok, you can tell me..." I need more reactions from friends. Sure, I'm mainly doing it to provoke a response, but I'd imagine a lot of my female friends would *** love it. And, by the way, y'all are crazy. Fluttershy is clearly the best pony. I think my good buddy disowned me as a friend after admitting this vice to him lol. Oh well, I always got sick of his "nobody loves me" music trends.

I can't say I've made it that far into the seaso...I mean, what the *** is going on in this thread?! I mean, what are they gonna do? Call 9-1-Potato? Yah, as Blazza said, part of it is the nostalgia and part is the "this turned out to be a whole lot better than I ever expected it to be" type of surprise lol.
I watched the original and had the toys when I grew up, and it was never as good as this. A whole lot of famous voice actors made their start from that old 80's cartoon version, including Kree Summer, but the show itself was pretty much like all other 80's kids TV programming (i.e. made to sell toys, with storyline and characterisation as secondary concerns.) So it's kind of nice that this version wants to tell a fast paced story with unique and likable characters. ^^ It reminds me of those other Thurop Van Orman "Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack" and C. H. Greenblatt "Chowder" cartoons--they are aimed at kids but are written so well they appeal to adults. When I first saw them I was going to write them off as Sponge Bob type nonsense entertainment, but they are also incredibly fun and clever cartoons to watch even as an adult. The minds behind this show know what they're doing for sure, Lauren Faust and her husband were behind The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. I think the real strength is that all three shows are so self-aware.

I was so sad when Chowder ended. D: Alas, I have Adventure Time and Regular Show to heal the pain. |
