Brock/Misty were never a problem with Charmander for me. I usually just spent forever lvling it in the in-between paths to where the type disadvantage didn't matter much.

Brock was never trouble for me, because I either grinded my Charmander into shape, or I caught a Caterpie and raised it quickly using the trainers/swapping out to make it Butterfree with Confusion. Usually that was enough, since Rocks have low Special. Then for Misty I just rocked her with my Pidgeotto. After that, Charbadass takes the cake, rapes Surge, super rapes Erika, rapes Koga, rapes Sabrina, rapes Blaine, and by the time you hit the 8th Gym you are more than used to raping Giovanni.
Sorry for all the rape mentions, just got out of a 2 hour long Sexual Assault brief, and it was non-stop talk about rape. :| A little irritated about that.

Can also catch every Pokemon available up to gen3 in the game, so can get really good teams. :O
Pretty sure they changed the starters, too, though.
Nah, and I prety much will never find Pokemon challenging ever again. Since I learned about EV training it has become tedium, though I've made some really sexy teams.
Make me wanna break out my old GB color n play yellow! I dun remember much so it'll be like new again!

I don't remember! Sigh, now to dig into storage to find the GB color and yellow. I remember going to get a used GB Color just so I could play Yellow. Never got any other games for it. =)

Your Pokemon will gain EVs either way, and since my brain won't shut up about my Pokemon needing to be ideal... well, I kind of can't. Ever since I found out about it, I've at least EVed one pokemon to maximum specific EVs in any playthrough that I've done. There's barely a chalenge without it anyway. I mean, come on, it's Pokemon. :3

Biggest challenge in pokemon when you didn't have infinite master balls, buying 99999999 great balls/ultra balls(I had better luck with great) and trying to catch the legendarys.

Dark balls were the ***. I caught regi gigas within 4 turns with one in plat hehe

I remember spending hours trying to catch Kyogre in ruby I think it was? I saved in front of him and then spammed catch on him and then I remember giving up and my sister ended up catching it with one great ball. >.> somad

And if you're really that bad about EVs; just download the GBA Pokesav and edit them to whatever EVs you want when you catch them. :I
