Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
I agree with most of that Schizm, but the Luke trying to save Vader. They kind of fought, twice.
I'm impressed Schism. You found a lot of correlations I frequently overlooked. They're vague, but still relevant. Perhaps you could make an equation for the correlations between Star Wars and FFXII lol.
With that said, I'm off to play FFXI. Hopefully I can unlock some new jobs today when I ding 30 :D Odin.Eikechi said: » I agree with most of that Schizm, but the Luke trying to save Vader. Ew Star Wars talk *abandons thread*
i need a new game to play :/ any interesting mmo's or rpgs around to try?
I was tabbed out Spoo, sorry! Thanks again. :D

Yes Vader turned on the emperor, but that wasn't Luke's doing. I just don't see the "save" angle. Yes Vader turned on the emperor, but that wasn't Luke's doing. At one point his resolve was made when he sided with the Rebel army. He found it necessary to defeat his own father for the sake of the galaxy and ending an ongoing war that was costing more and more as things escalated. However, when confronting and nearly killing Vader, he realized that it was only through his own anger (ie: the dark side) that he was about to commit patricide, and in a moment of hesitation and mercy, found that underneath the darkness, his father was still there, genuine and benevolent in purpose, but misguided and lost in evil and darkness. So there was an element of saving his father, but sadly, it was far too late and they had both accepted what was to come. ![]() Fun times. Hm. Probably should've made it a bit bigger. To me that sounds like a pretty big stretch. I would moreso see that as showing mercy to a foe you defeated. Not trying to pull him from the dark side.

Don't forget that Vader was the one that saved Luke from the emperor when he was punished for hesitating to kill his own father. So that sort of insinuates the whole point of there still being good in Luke's father. Something worth saving, so to speak. Yeah, but he didn't actively try to save him. I guess I'm just arguing a moot point anyways, but I just don't see it as "saving" his father.

Well, they never really got around to "saving", but rather found something inside each other worth saving. But it was already too late. Death Star was about to go kaboom, and Vader was already mortally wounded. Made for a tragic last time father & son moment, but it tided together well in the end when his spirit along with Yoda's and Obi-Wan's were watching over him. Quote: Luke surrendered to Vader and, in the throne room of the second Death Star, Sidious attempted to turn the young Jedi to the dark side by having him duel Vader. Luke defeated Vader, but refused to give himself to the darkness, proclaiming himself a Jedi like his father before him. When Sidious attempted to kill Luke using Force lightning, Anakin Skywalker emerged from Darth Vader and came to his son's rescue, saving him and killing the Emperor by throwing him down the main reactor core. Mortally wounded by the Force lightning, he died soon afterward, but he died as a Jedi once more, having redeemed himself by saving his son and fulfilling the prophecy of the Chosen One. Imo, refusing to kill Vader is what also "saved" him from the Dark Side. A more important question to ask right now would be:
Have you hugged a hyena yet today?

until you get into the books past the 6th movie >_> Odin.Eikechi said: » To me that sounds like a pretty big stretch. I would moreso see that as showing mercy to a foe you defeated. Not trying to pull him from the dark side. considering Luke himself said that he would turn him that was still good in him, etc. It's called part of the plot, not a stretch. or just a minute into this clip... volkom said: » luke skywalker sucks as a jedi. until you get into the books past the 6th movie >_> meh, the books aren't exactly the same thing, but w/e I mean he didn't go total bad *** in episode 6, but that was kind of the point.
