I was actually reading an article yesterday about how apple is doing so good because android was failing (could obviously tell it was written by a biased reporter ... so took it with a grain of salt lol)

Apple are the hipsters of technology.
People buy their products, it means they're good at what they're doing, even if only commercially speaking.

I think it's more cause the typical vocal apple fanboy is annoying as hell even if he has valid points.
Edit: I have an iphone and I don't act like an *** to people who use android phones.

I'll agree they have good products (don't get me wrong, I played with the gfs mini yesterday and kinda was impressed, they've improved)
I just don't want to spend that much money on a product when I can get something just as (if not better) for half the cost.

If by that you mean marketing then yes, the majority of people that buy their products don't really know anything about technology other than how to use it and are willing to pay the very high retail prices to own a trendy gadget. There are better products out there but unless you know exactly what to look for they will never break Apples market domination.

I've got a job interview with the local Sheriff's dept. coming up not sure if I should go clean shaven or slightly bearded for a more refined look.

I'll agree they have good products (don't get me wrong, I played with the gfs mini yesterday and kinda was impressed, they've improved)
I just don't want to spend that much money on a product when I can get something just as (if not better) for half the cost.
1. The apple product 99% of the time is easier to use for the non-tech savvy person(still a majority of people, yes we live in the age of technology but most people still only have a basic understanding).
2. The apple product was out first and thus people trust it more.
That being said if you're the first person to make something you set the price, also people will pay for convenience. Apple knows this, look at their UI.
That's just my take looking at it from a business perspective.

Clean shaven is generally the best bet for job interviews as far as I know regardless of how it looks. That said with out knowing your interviewer I can't really say. If you can look at others who work there and use that to decide if you can keep it or not.
