In respect for the Chick-Fil-A thing, I feel that if you aren't completely against it, you are sort of shunned from the LGBT community. Now, I am not saying that I am not against it -- in reality, I am. I just don't stand on a soap box and praise to the world.

As someone who has had his opinion repressed, I respect the right for other Americans to formulate their own opinion and judge their actions and the actions of others. Is this such a complicated concept to understand?
The fact that you make your own opinions and it's perfectly okay for others to have their own opinions, but still treat you like person?

In a much better example, I identify as ***. I acknowledge that people, especially people who are in my cohort, do not fundamentally agree with that. However, even with me identifying as ***, they treat me like a fellow colleague and as another aspiring physician. In the end, that's all you can really ask for.

I respect the right for them to formulate their own decisions on the *** community. I don't want to picket them, I don't want to tell them how their fundamental doctrines/morals are wrong, I just want to live a life where I can get through school.

Is that so difficult?

Don't you worry man. There is a profound difference in "gratuitious emotionally charged response-reaction" and "lucid emotional control." Since I know you're the latter and not the former, let all the people who need to deal w/their outrage against Chik-fil-A being a gay-cure friendly establishment simply just expend their energy. Everyone deserves to deal with trauma in our own way. But just because their perception is their reality doesn't mean the truth doesn't still stand: we all have to be simply willing to live-let-live, let go and let God (or Buddah or The Earth Mother, etc etc.)

I can't no more control the CEO of Chik-Fil-A in sending his donations to gay-curing programs, than I can do jumping jacks on the moon in a wifebeater and a speedo. But it un-nerves me to eat their however scrumptously delicious chicken sandwiches these days, so I have stopped. But that doesn't mean I'm going to grab a bullhorn and blow the hair off someone sitting next to me to "FIGHT THA POWA."

And frankly, whoever is touting the big horn that "raze all homos to the ground that side w/the breeders and EAT MOR CHIKIN," should really have their head examined. No good organized protest ever truly started from the failed inventions of someone's "anger management" training. Past heroes like MLK and others, certainly didn't use that kind of mentality to "win the war."
