turned off p2p and restarted and that seemed to fix it

that's kind of sad since I've been technically a "professional" since I was 17...

However I've only taken apart 1 laptop (mine), no issues.

But I've taken apart a few ps2s, and a ps3, which are very similar short of not quite as compact.

you really should clean the fan, and have the thermal paste replaced if it's old.

a few months back, my dad got a new laptop, his old one was malfunctioning.
my laptop was being weird (an ASUS), any time the graphic processor would get worked up, the laptop would overheat and freeze, and wouldn't boot up until it cooled off, so last week, decided to open my laptop, getting to the video card was easy, remove 2 panels on the back, pop them off, and bam, there it was.
removed the cooling fan, and noticed the thermal compound on both the processor and vc-processor where crystallized and gone to ***, so cleaned it off and applied some new heavy duty one. closed everything back, and stress tested my laptop, has been working way better and no more random freezes.

Sooo while I was at it, decided to check, clean and replace the thermal compound my dad's old laptop. as I was opening it up.... "wtf is this?"
to get to the motherboard, I had to remove ALL the bottom panel, take off the keyboard, remove the ram and HDD's, disconnect the monitor, take out one more panel..... had to basically dismantle all of it.
*** this ***, didn't even get halfway when I decided to put it together and toss it someplace to be forgotten about.

*** hate HP laptops

lol mine's an hp, and yeah you have to dig sometimes to get to it.

asus make good ***.

so all id have to do once i open it was clean off the dust and put more thermal paste? .-.

id get some Cool Master thermal paste or Arctic Silver 5
if you decide to add thermal paste, you have to take the old one off too

I think I've played enough for today @.@

how would you remove the old one?

I was just going to tell you to turn p2p off, it went from 4hr to 1.5 hrs soon as i turned it off

it didnt really fix it much turns out, it started low and then went up to the 900s, then went back down to the 700s

so now i've done a dns flush in hopes that that works

*** it i just wont be playing today then, it made it higher, and now its going back down to the 700s

rubbing alcohol, it's a paste so it's like removing old glue (sorta)

smooth the new out and make sure there's no bubbles, may want to have somebody do it though if you're not confident.
