My German Shephard is purebred, but she was a rescue dog. I'm actually impressed with how smart she is and how much she understands.

Seriously though, my friend in college had one. Even though it was really cute, it made her whole house stink.

like i said mine didnt stink lol besides his cage lol

I own two purebred Dachshunds, and besides from the fact that Dachshunds are naturally stubborn, they are incredibly intelligent.

I remembered when we brought mine home from being spayed, for the first few weeks she'd whine and such (not to obnoxious lvls, but just a bit) and you would go, "Daisy, what did they do to you?" And she'd roll over and show you. She gets embarassed if you catch her drooling while begging. I wish I still had the pic of her actually sitting on the kitchen chair with us.

My brother has two rescue dogs. One is named Shep and is really timid and will run away from men (we believe he was beaten by a male before my brother got him. My brother is the only guy he's let touch him since they got him.) but he's very protective of my brother and his wife. The other is Ava, who is a girl and younger. She was abandoned by her family but not abused like Shep was.

Anyways, my brother and his wife just had a baby a few days ago, she's brand new! (We went to visit them when the baby was born, which is why I was recently gone for a week. Those of you who I have badgered into being on my facebook can see pictures of the cutest baby in the history of time now. ~.^) Anyhow, Shep has taken to the baby and guards and protects her. It's adorable. He lets people hold her and all that, he's not a mean dog. But when she cries, he's right there. If someone is holding her walking around, he follows on their heels til they put her down. When my brother put her in a cradle, Shep laid down next to the cradle and didn't move. It was the sweetest thing.

Having dogs with young kids is actually good for the kids too. I don't have a source for this so don't cite me on it, but I have read before that kids who were in contact with animals when they were very young babies are far less likely to have asthma and less likely to be allergic to animals when they grow up.

My first dog was a long-haired miniature dachshund named Hope. She was caramel/butterscotch/blonde colored with chocolate brown eyes, just beautiful. My parents gave her to me when I was in 3rd grade. She died last summer, I ordered them to put her down. She could no longer walk without falling and was in obvious pain from old age. I bawled for like 3 days and probably made this whole site listen to me whimper about it. She was my baby. :-(

Now we have Pixel, she's a small beagle. I just adore her, she's like a kid to me.

Haha! Nixed my Facebook after the final break up with the guy I was with for the past five years. Deleted FB and changed my number. No more on and off with him EVER.


True. They do have those characteristics from time to time, but they can also be super cuddly and protective.

They may not speed over to the door and give you a big sloppy kiss when you come home like a dog, but they have other redeeming qualities...

Speaking of men acting like babies...Who hates it when they get sick? I swear to God they exaggerate it! It makes me want to boot them off the couch and rip off the blanket. No need for this when all you have is the ***' sniffles! LOL!

I should point out I don't consider a cold being sick. That's just something you muscle through. Sick to me is like can't talk and coughing constantly.
