You're correct, but still. Also if they get backed up long enough the system pushes them all out at once, from my understanding when jaerik explained it to me.

Wow.. Something I just learned (dunno if it's actually true..) The Concordia.. The champagne bottle didn't break on it's christening <_< No I don't buy into that, I'm sure there are many ships where this was the case who lived out their duty without any real problems.. It's just one of those weird factoids.

The way I learned is to just start tinkering around. However, as far as basics are concerned, what you should look into first would be the basic chord shapes, including E, A, D, G, C, F as well as barre chords and power chords. Also, you should start getting into picking exercises, particularly strumming on the strings using a figure 8 pattern.

This can help you get started.

I want to learn too =/ I can't afford to get one (any time we got free money it always ends up going to something else that is more useful or necessary) I had a couple of guitars (acoustic) when I was younger and learned to do some things..

The only instrument I was ever instructed in though was Violin.. Unless you want to count one of these stupid *** things.. Which was basically required in elementary school..

Basically what magnus said. If you end up liking it, it also helps to learn scales and basic theory.

Also, I strongly recomend against getting a cheap guitar. If you like it save up for a bit and get a semidecent one. Something like a $80 costco guitar will last a year or 2 tops, and not play nearly as well as for example a $400 stratocaster which has lasted me 12 years and still plays well. This goes triple if you want to get an accoustic eventually.

I agree with this, but with an addendum. I'd hold off on buying a guitar until you have a couple weeks/months on your brother's electric and have the basics down. If you don't like it or find yourself not being able to stick with it, at least this way you didn't shell out a couple hundred bucks for an instrument that'll just sit collecting dust. You're not going to be doing any shows for a while, so quality isn't the biggest issue right now.

That's basically what I wanted to do.. Buy some cheap *** ***, just to see if I can... I remember playing the Violin and Jesus, even then my fingers would cramp up and I just couldn't handle it, I'm kinda dubious if I could now.. I mean I could go out and buy some 200 dollar guitar+amp set, and then find out I can't, but the thing is so cheap that no one would buy it back it or anything, it'd have little to no resale value..

So it keeps getting prioritized over.

; ; why are hobbies so expensive. The only real hobby I have that I'm good at and enjoy is building models (cars) I know I can play instruments and all, but only from my experience of 10+ years ago.. I can still build models but they're so expensive.. At least to do them right.

Those guys really are *** awesome though.. They make me wish I had stuck with Violin..
