I've been enjoying SE games on PSP and DS. But, of course, no one looks at SE outside of FF and put all their rage on that, lawl.

I don't think we'll ever see another amazing FF, Games aren't about story as much these days.
I disagree, but as I've said before some people will accept the changes made in games others want.

Video games have become more mainstream. Of course the companies are going to tailor their games to appeal to the masses. I like oldschool turn based RPG's. They don't make them anymore, which I think plays a large part as to why I don't play video games as much.

You say FF's aren't as much about the story as they used to be.
I think you've got it backwards.
They're more about the story which has caused the games to become far more linear.

I do prefer older RPGs for the most part, but I can only storm x castle y amount of times before it gets boring because I've done the same game a million times. Half the fun of a game is experiencing things new. I can't do that replaying old games over and over. I just adjust to the new way of gaming. It's fun when you accept it, but if you keep nitpicking and looking through your silly nostalgia glasses, then you ruin all the fun. Everyone walks into games expecting disappointment, which is all they're gonna get.

That makes the story the whole focus with less distractions and less going out of your way to know/understand.
Maybe in FF, but go into other RPG franchises. Plenty of sidequests and sidestories. I never was fond of FF sidequests because many were a complete waste of time.
