Venice is peculiar, gorgeous would be overstimating.
The tower you mentioned is the one of Pisa I guess.
Greece is across the sea to the east or going by the alps, travel south trough the ex Jugoslavia and the Balkans.
Crete? Well, that isn't so close and has nothing to do wiht it lol.

I agree entirely! All I can think of is Assassin's Creed when I think of Italy, and that makes it a pretty damn awesome country. Well, and the lesser known things like the Leaning Tower of Piza and Pizza that come from it I suppose.
