Don't judge me <_< but I'm finally watching Sucker Punch and one of the best lines I've heard in a long time come from a movie..

"If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything"

I Googled it right away, feeling it was said by someone at some point (there's so few philosophical lines/points in movies that are original). Anyways, thought it was a good message and wanted to share.

Really powerful statement, if you ask me.

Perfect example of how people (and companies) are always over sensationalizing the news..

Wow even worse, both links bring to you the exact same page...

Apparently they can't make up their mind if people are missing (i.e. feared dead) or are actually dead..

Maybe they'r just showing people that yes, the games do belong in a timeline, blabla.
Maybe they'r finally trying to put the pieces together for us, so we can understand how this mess is really put together :P

So I been going through and watching the air crash documentaries..

Interesting tidbit.. You know that Ethiopian flight that got hijacked by 3 dudes and eventually crashed into the Indian ocean just off coast of an island (I'm sure you've seen the video, even if you don't know what I'm talking about, it was captured on home video)..?

The pilot had already been hijacked 2 times before...

<_< Talk about ***luck.

this plane incident is always the one that freaked me out:

>< My stepmother keeps harassing me to send her all my facebook pictures to her email because someone told her I have a facebook. She says I have to email them because she won't get a facebook. Lady, I would not friend you on facebook even if you had one, and I'm hella not sending you my drunken party and tattoos pictures. You would be scandalized and harass me even more and I would snap. Not even kidding.

My dad's new wife added me on facebook... It's so annoying getting messages at 3 in the morning saying "Lol you cant sleep too I see"

And then if I don't reply:

"Helo?"
"Hellllloooooo"
"poke"
"poke"

until I finally snap and say I'm busy and then bad feeling everywhere.

I swear, I would get in trouble for everything on mine. Such as:

She's been bothering me about this for awhile, so I've been consoling her by sending her a very proper picture now and then. Like a picture of one of my plants sometimes. But then a few days ago a project that my husband is working on for his job was on the news, and I was accidentally in the video because they were recording an intersection where I was walking my dog. I posted the video, mostly because I'm just so proud of my husband for the work he's done on this project. My brother sent the video to my Dad. No worries there. My Dad let my stepmother watch it. No worries... until she found out that my brother got it from Facebook. So now she's going off on me for 'leaving her out' of 'important' things because I post them on Facebook instead of telling her. >.>

I'm not sure, honestly. She's very clingy to me, probably because I was so young when she married my Dad that she looks at me like I was her own daughter. She was never able to have children of her own. She's very jealous about it, to the point that she wouldn't let anyone else be a mother figure to me. From the time I was three years old and up, she would continually tell me how my own mother left because she didn't love nor want me. This was of course untrue, but she was so terrified of me having another mother besides her that she felt she had to separate me from my mom. She did it with friends, too, my siblings and I were never allowed to have close friends because she didn't want us to love anyone but her. But she's also very temperamental and does not compromise. She's lost just about every good friend she's ever had except her siblings because the moment any of them disagree with her on even the smallest, pettiest thing, she can't stand them anymore.

The main problem is, she is very strictly religious and raised me to be that way, too. That's all right, it's within a parent's right to steer (or force) their child in the way they want them to go. But when the kid is old enough to make up their own mind, well. That's another story. If/when she finds out that I am non-religious, she would probably disown me. Her deity is more important to her than anything, and me turning from the faith would be looked on as a direct betrayal of everything she raised me to be. And from a lot of those pictures, not to mention my choices of facebook friends and some of my own status updates, she'd find it very obvious that I have definitely turned from the faith. My album of FFXI pictures alone would clue her in, since we were not allowed to play video games because they were a devil's plaything. She'd know immediately. And that's just something I don't want to deal with.

This probably all makes me a very rotten daughter, and for that I am sorry. But I just can't be someone who I'm not.

Don't be sorry, Liela. You're an absolute sweetheart, despite your mother being a nutjob. You should be disowning her.

Aww, thanks Spence. You are a sweetheart, too! <3 It's ok Annikahansen, this seems natural to me and not alarming. It's just a choice I'm going to have to eventually make.

I take back my previous statement and forcing even playfully would be wrong ugh sorry Leila, would be very tough on both of you. Do you think she's best knowing the truth or best having you in her life? this pushing she's doing could be taken both ways but involuntarily I'd try to take care of them and help keep myself in their life if they needed me that badly but depending on the person maybe that truth and loss is the best thing for a wake up call : /

Do you think she's the kind of woman extreme honesty and candid sincerity would be valued? Some similar types respect that but if you don't think she could handle knowing you completely all at once then slowly might be better, over time putting effort in for her and this relationship? hmmm

This is completely horrible of me, but I would almost rather just tell her and make a clean break. But I refuse to do that for two reasons. One, I love my Dad very much and I would never be able to see him again if I did that, unless he divorced her. That is against his morals, so I highly doubt he would ever do it. Two, it would absolutely crush my stepmother, and much as I am not fond of her, I don't wish to cause her pain. I do not like her, but on some level I know I love her.

I don't want to fake who I am every time I speak with her or visit her, but that might be the only way to both keep my own life and keep my folks happy. My sister was 15 years old when she stopped faking, and within two weeks (two very dramatic weeks) my stepmother kicked her out of the house. My brother doesn't speak to her anymore in defense of his wife, whom my stepmother does not approve of. But in choosing his wife over his stepmother, he forfeited his right to visit my Dad. They were very much alike and very close, and now their relationship is confined to telephone and email.

I've already kind of stopped faking though. It's against my entire family to be ok with homosexuality, but when one of my friends invited me to a day against homophobia on Facebook, it took me about two seconds to decide it was time to stand up for what I believed in and click 'yes, I'm attending.' I received no backlash for that little rebellion, so perhaps my aunts, uncles, and cousins at least would rather keep me whether I agree with them on all points or not.

It sounds as though your dad may need to step up. Have you talked to him about it?

@ Anjisu

I'd stick it up in your bazaar and take offers.

My Dad freely admits he made a mistake in marrying her. It was a rebound relationship that went too far. He also has freely said that he wishes he was single, and has said that he wishes he could divorce her. He can't really afford a divorce, because they have racked up a lot of credit card debt together and are fairly poor. My siblings and I have all offered him a home to live in and food on his plate if he ever chooses to leave her. We've made it clear that he won't go homeless or hungry.

He won't, I think for two reasons. One, he's afraid she will go homeless or hungry because he probably knows that the same courtesy we'd extend to him would not be extended to her, or if we did extend it, she would refuse it because she would not approve of any of our lifestyles. However, she has five siblings that she could live with until she got back on her feet. And two, it's against his moral compass to divorce her. It's frustrating to me that he would rather be miserable until he dies for fear of displeasing his deity, but I can't make that choice for him.

At any rate, she very much wears the pants of the family. Their relationship is not a partnership at all, as I think marriage should be. What she says goes, and he gets very little choice in matters. Frustrating, but he's a big boy and if he won't take any of us up on our offers of a home, then there's not a lot we can do for him.
