Weab culture is weaboo culture. Hence the short hand for weaboo would be weab. Weaboos are Americans obsessed with Japanese culture. The type that thinks Attack on Titan was good or acts like Evangelion is gospel. Evangelion was nothing but a bunch of convoluted ***. The type to go visit Japan. The Gaijin's they hate so much because they're often obnoxious and disrespectful of their traditional cultural beliefs.

Weeb is short for dweeb. Effectively nerd culture. Nerd culture is the kids that would otherwise be normies, but because weaboos had become pop culture they tried to reclaim it as if watching Naruto isn't a guilty pleasure. A guilty pleasure is when you like something, but you don't like talking about it because it's weird to normal people. Like playing Super Monkey Ball on the Nintendo Gamecube. Weebs are like the youtuber NCHammer. The type to have watched Crunchy roll's full catelog because they didn't pirate them from Japan as they were airing on tv like weabs did.

So to break it down:
Weab is a westerner that simps for Japan, a poser of Japanese culture.
A weeb is another level of poser. The younger brother of weaboos basically.
If you didn't know the difference or didn't care, then you're normal.

Weeb is the short form of weeaboo, it is unrelated to dweeb

imagine inventing a whole backstory because you couldn't just admit you misspelled something, wild

I'm having fun posting the memes here, but he probably truly believed what he said is how everybody thinks. I can't see any benefit for him to lie about this.

It reminds me of when I made a video about the 3D printed Gjallahorn release. I pronounced it "Gah-jill-a-horn" and got absolutely roasted for it. I had never once in my life heard somebody say that word out loud, so that was how my brain pronounced it. I was 100% wrong and had no idea.

yeah but do you know how weeaboo came to mean what it does? a 4chan admin put a filter on wapanese to change it to weeaboo (specifically as a reference to that comic), the comic depicts that use of the word results in a paddling this was probably what the admin was trying to get across by applying the filter. but 4chan in classic 4chan way adopted the term and it stuck, broke containment and now the wider world uses the term, which originally was a complete nonsense word from a comic.

when voice chat picked up in usage, there was constantly someone pronouncing a zone, mob, spell, ability, piece of gear's name incorrectly only for everyone to make fun of them and then immediately do the same thing to some other term.

Idk, I feel like english speakers are way more picky with spelling and grammar than we have here.

Here, given overall population has poor education, we are way more lenient with grammar and speech in general.

It is funny seeing videos of americans having spelling contest for kids. Shows how much they care with proper english
