I was not unimpressed with the Witcher show, but I never read the books or played the games. I was a bit like "why is the witcher not in this show" but overall it was a good show by todays horribly low standards.

I recently started listening to the audiobooks. I finished The Last Wish based on recommended reading order and I'm now on Sword of Destiny.

For all the complaints I see online about how the show doesn't follow the books... Literally everything I've read so far was portrayed entirely in the show. I'm not defending the show, just stating I was surprised.

The big hurdle for me and the audio books is the Bard's name is changed. His name is Dandelion in the books and in The Last Wish the narrator pronounces it Dan-dill-ee-on and in Sword of Destiny he says it "Dan-dee-lion" and it's just awful lol.

The books and games are a great story. TV show went off the rails after season 1. Bad writing.

Zombies, like anything in fiction or RL, evolve.

Zombies used to have poor mobility.

Now they surpass human limits because they dont feel pain.

It never make sense zombies hunger for living meat, as technically it shouldnt be that much different than their own meat, but zombies have very accurate distinction between the living and the dead.

Favoring human brains on top of that makes even less sense.

Just because youre dead you feel entitled to HQ meat?

The video is meta commentary on the genre, and the way humans live, not the creatures per say

The real problem in the zombie apocalypse is NOT the zombies. It's the piece of ***humans who will no longer have the constraints of law. And how most "zombie" media has changed to that, and how the "bad guys" in every zombie media are trying to bring back laws.

Instead of hordes of shambling undead eating people.

Biggest problem with the Witcher was always the costumes. They all look like they are cosplaying. Following the books doesn't matter that much considering most books aren't written for television. The Witcher series is a prime example of that, there isn't enough content so the show writers have to fill in a lot of the gaps.

in general I don't like the idea of "fixing" a story with the parts you didn't like and repackaging it. but obviously that's a lot easier than coming up with something original on your own. most fiction already follows well established tropes anyway.

this has trigger my The Promised Neverland Season 2 trauma.

The person adapting that had the complete work to go off of, but instead shouts "hold my beer I can do this better" and as a result delivers a steaming pile of excrement not even a dung beetle would touch. So many plot holes and lazy plot advances where the solution is just handed to the characters on a silver platter.

Wait wait did we just start off onto "they 'fixed' it, now it sucks" without anybody talking about the Wheel of Time adaptation? Well let me fix that!

diverse casting is cool and all but the two rivers was a goddamn monoculture having trouble with inbreeding, formed from the descendants of one fallen kingdom, this is the one specific situation where your main cast should all look similar (except the main character who is very specifically singled out for looking like an outsider)

did you not even read how the magic system works, at all, no the ancient prophesied destroyer/savior can not possibly be anyone in the group because souls are gendered and magic is tied to that, and there was already a different counterpart in the lore for versions of the story where the genders are reversed

longbow longbow longbow they explicitly describe the region's longbows as being as tall as their wielder, think like english longbow not olympic shortbow

"hey wouldn't it be funny if we killed off this secondary character early" no no it would not people liked these characters and also they influenced so damn many events through the story and now nope let's just forget that and hey also let's steal the thunder from somebody whose whole arc was leading into the very same scene you decided to just hand out willy-nilly

"feckin'" seriously really come on the books took great pains to establish an in-world vocabulary of colorful curses and that's what you decide to go with instead

Kids, never let Amazon adapt something you have fond memories of.

Definitely not going to be a good season. They split the main characters up again, so three different storylines. Two of which will probably go absolutely nowhere. Geralt 2.0 is also unremarkable.

So far I wouldn't say it's any worse than the third season. That 3rd season was pretty dogturdy.

Only comparing it to the rest of the show, having no book or game knowledge.

I'm not having fun at all through 3 episodes. It feels like the Yen storyline is the only one with any forward movement. Geralt and Co. are just walking through the woods and Ciri is hanging out with some kids instead of you know, hiding from every single person chasing her.

His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles and honours of Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.

I'm surprised it took that long to kick Andrew out. Then again, I think everyone is ready for King William.

He paid to avoid trial but the king basically says Andrew doesn't admit guilt so he's bad. This implies the king knows he's guilty without trial.

Monarchy isn't politics.

The parliamentary system, which has separate heads of government and heads of state, has its attractions even when the head of state is an unelected monarch.

In England they can say the prime minister can go take a flying **** but god save the king. We in the US of A have no analog to this.

In a constitutional monarchy the monarch is both above and inexorably intertwined with politics.

It is on paper only. No monarch in the UK could realistically or ever would overrule an elected prime minister.

You're making this political, are you trying to get the subject killed? It's about sexual abuse and power.

Not a brit, but I always saw the monarchy as more of an expression of heritage than any meaningful influence. Not really sure what to make of the happening, it seems to me that since the monarchy rarely if ever wields government power it shouldn't matter that much if they choose to kick someone out of it.

Plus, if his own brother thinks he did it, he probably did.

Their job is not to rule. Its to cut ribbons and entertain the masses. You might notice that here in the USA the doings of European and British monarchs is in the entertainment news along with music and film stars.

In many constitutional monarchies the monarch* has to sign legislation and they can't refuse to do so. IDK if this is so in Great Briton.

It does make for good tabloid fodder though.

My roomie has royal family trees MEMORIZED.

As for me, I can't remember which Edward bailed after marrying Simpson thereby handing the crown to Elizabeth II.

Im still loving Chainsaw Man, but this part 2 feels like the author gave up the plot and started to do experimental stories.

It feels like those stories are leaning toward surrealism. There isnt a chapter that I dont think: WTF?

One chapter the guy vanishes every living being on earth their ear. Then the other he vanishes all mouths. For no reason.
