Out of curiosity, are you virtue signaling because of X's perceived political alignment?
I avoided the site back when it was twitter and had moderators.

Did it have moderators before? It always felt like a place full of useless ***posts by bots or internet warriors farming internet traffics.

Regardless of its political alignment(if there is even one) I would avoid it too. I occasionally read some JP mangaka's status update on that site, that's about it.

Facebook wants you to think Elon Musk works on bringing you affordable houses and water-powered car engines. Also, it has a lot of corny videos. You must censor your own swear words to avoid the ban. It brought back the Russian memes after Trump won the election.

Everyone still blames Elon Musk.

X Corp is now Texas.
Facebook remains California.

Facebook has actually gotten a lot better on it's trigger words to ban people. That being said it doesn't remove posts that it should either.

That being said: tiktok has some insane auto trigger bans.

Twitter is a dumpster fire and glad I got rid of that crap.

I gave up on FB. I would rather waste my online time elsewhere.

I never did get around to wasting time on tictock.

I might have wasted time on Twitter if they payed me but for Elon I would take $1M to merely think about diving into that cesspool.

I am now rank Z in singles and doubles in Sparking. Sad the game is kinda dead, idk why they let it fall off so quickly but this was my first fighting game in ages and apparently that happens to them all.

Dude, Jet's crew is a buncha bad ***!

We go in, and they're all just sorta playing jobs they play like 1/3rd of the time, and they're all doing more damage than me by a country mile, and the SAM was especially impressive, so I started trying to setup Darkness for his Fudos.

Got a sick one setup on this Unicorn mob in Ru'Aun. Damn near one shot the damn the thing... Well two shot I guess, but Requiescat barely counts!

So I started foolin' around and using my other weapons that aren't Naegling. Of course, nothing really came close except my damn Purgation with Calamity. But it was still less.

Some guy showed up late and got referred to as, "What Ghost is this?" And he said he could come on his ***BRD, and then he was in full Nyame/other stuff and also had Marsyas and all the fixings lmao.

Packets is eating well! And made me feel extremely privileged tonight. They get ***done!

Reisenjima tomorrow. The Kayte chum was hungry to just do it all tonight, but unfortunately I had to be a stick in the mud cause I gotta show my wifey I love her more than games. Married life is hard.

Morta clone was hilarious. They said I needed a, "Charm Buffer" and I don't have access to it cause it's my first time doing Geas Fete. So everyone is getting charmed and getting smoked or doing the smoking. I got smoked by the SAM. In my DT set. In like 5 autos lmao. Damn Empyrean aftermath and all that(and full BRD/COR buffs). I was the first DD to relent though and wait on my weakness, so I wound up getting the finishing blow on our most troublesome foe :)

Ah, yeah, we punk'd Warder of Courage like he wasn't some mountain to climb at one point in history. They even said we were, "A little slow."

I probably shoulda subbed DRG.

Reisenjima tomorrow \[T]'/

Super Left Field with this one, but trying to gather some data for a friend's Doctorate:

How many of you played "Holst's 1st Suite in Eb" for Military Band? And if you did, and wouldn't mind saying how old you were, I'd be very grateful!

...and if you have no idea of what I'm talking about, no biggie, just pass by this like its one of my rando sailing posts.

Them Reisenjima mobs got hands

Was still fun though.

Zerde
Schah
Albumen
Erinys

Are what's left...

Vinipata was sorta the most fun. Stupid Narakas. He killed us once, and I got to hit damage cap with NQ Beryllium Mace.

I don't think I get to join in Jet's reindeer games to finish... 6 days of work incoming and the holiday.

Still it's far closer to an Aeonic than I was before, and now I know a little bit more about modern FFXI and got to do stuff in a group. :D big fun!

Geas Fete tends to be more annoying when you increase party size, you'd be surprised how tame many of them are with 3-6 people. If you need any assistance finishing up those HELMs and can't schedule with Jet, feel free to drop a line.

This afrAId movie is next level, the ***we imagine AI will do. We should be afraid lol. (It will be so much worse than we can imagine.)

So simple. So formulaic. Cliche. Still ended up a great watch. Just like every other movie about self-aware AI

I have fond memories of 18man aeonics upon release, you're not wrong! But the extra HP and TP move frequency makes them considerably harder, too.

unpopular opinion: not actually harder with more players/bodies in most strategies

the flexibility and buff stacking afforded by a greater group more than offsets the hp, and tp move frequency is still limited to around 1 move/7 seconds, so it doesn't even grow linearly

i think what a lot of people miss when looking at it from this angle is the average caliber of player, most groups running their best 3-6 will have an average considerably better than the same group would when running 12-18

That is a good point, the average preparedness, gear level, and execution goes down when you add more moving parts. But the chaos is fun sometimes despite that.

So I finally put the last 600 or so JPs into Oboro for the, "Mysterious Weapon."

The mofo even let me augment my relics now! The wiki said I couldn't til I set foot in Dyna D, but I still haven't set foot in Dyna D.

Ragnarok at R8 so far. I am a poor. Maybe I shouldn't have bought Moonbow Necklace.

Either way, with all of my JP grinding for Relic augmentation unlock done, I finally can JP guilt free on other jobs.

So I went to work on RDM which was sitting at 205 JP. I looked it over with the gearsets I have. Full Malignance and then Jhakri +2 and Ayanmao +2 and a buncha weird accessories, and it's still probably garbage. Either way, it has enough accuracy with the Riverfin Soup I so love making, to go fight Apex Poxhounds... Except I forgot that Sylvie changes her bubbles depending on your job, so I had to realign trust setup.

They go down fine and painless, but it takes forever and a day. My TP set with full Malignance and /nin and capped dual wield from gear can kinda self SC some, but Sword's Self SC options are kinda terrible if you ask me. At least with just Naegling. I do have Excalibur for better times, but I'm right on the edge of the accuracy needed as is.

So I went back to Dho Gates or whatever one is the green one with water and blackstone that's kinda pretty. Started grinding bats because no desire to cast Dispel on Crabs or Pugils. Trusts can actually hit them pretty easily, so brought out Ayame and made Light off her Kashas with NaeglBling's Savages. Got a pretty good groove going, still not feeling so good cause no campaign going for CP.

This PLD bumps into me and sends me a tell, "Hey I'm gonna cleave here, wanna join?" I said, sure why not?

So I follow this PLD, and he's cleaning the back room, and I got in on helping even though my Aeolian Edge set isn't particularly amazing. Sped his cleaves up enough that he had to wait on Sentinel cooldown. Over the next 40 or so minutes got up from 27 JP to 100 JP. Pretty sweet!

The amount of grinding needed still overwhelms me. I think it's insane that I devoted like the first half of this year almost to just JP grinding on Mastered WAR, and the result of finishing the grind for the REMA grind equates to ML32 with 210k buffer (ish, I definitely died between grind sessions in places with loss). And from what I understand from the infamous graph, ML45 is half way total exemplar points wise. Absolute insanity!

Like it's no wonder so many people are multi-boxing. You don't just get better buffs than trusts, you get more leniency with losing fights and the ability to grind multiple jobs on this insane grind at once, so it feels a little better.

In non-FFXI news, my copy of Dragon Warrior 3 HD2D remake arrived in the mail. I decided to make a party with my wife's username for stuff as my first party member and Vyre as the hero. There's a Facebook personality quiz at the start, and you come across this dying dude in a desert and he's imploring for his little brother to take what water they have left and make it out of the desert without him. You walk up to help, but your help is Yes or No to what the kid should do, not, you know, picking the guy up and actually helping them out. I felt terrible cause I told this kid to pick his brother up, that the kid clearly could not move, and soldier on. I thought the, "Do the right thing" options were gonna lead to me actually helping because it was prefaced as, "A test of my character."

Not a big fan of that. For the rest of the party I used my wife and mine's real names and made a Goof-off and a Pilgrim. I refuse to acknowledge the relocalized names of those classes (Priest for Pilgrim isn't bad, but Gadabout is just stupid). (My wife is the Pilgrim)

Didn't get to play much before I came to work. Not bringing my Switch to work, because even though there's a buncha down time, a Switch is very easily stolen, and I don't have time to put it up/hide it every time I have to help a guest.

Thinking about doing a concurrent playthrough on the NES version via emulator since I do bring my laptop to work, because my work lowkey requires it (even though they'd never admit it even under pain of death).

Blugh

Those FFXI composer interviews make me think that either Mizuta doesn't think highly of himself, or simply dislikes interviews. It's weird that most of it is Uematsu speaking when Mizuta has created the majority (like 99%) of the music in XI for the past 2 decades.

I would have liked to hear more from him. I just hope he's proud of his work.

Speak to more musicians of all aspects- we're never happy with our work; there's always something that could have been performed more accurately, or a compositional idea that strikes just a breath after a work goes to print, or a mix that never sits the way the dj wanted. In fact, the sign of a confident musician is for most of us a big giant warning sign to not work with them.
